Hi guys! Its Any Hero here, and I just wanted to recap and talk about the origin of one of the best characters on The Flash: Harrison Wells! That's right; the same sinister scientist that has creeped up on The Flash as the Reverse-Flash. But as we all know it was really a mask of the original Well's body and truly the face of....
However, thats Eobard (who we'll discuss later). But now lets talk about the good scientist and all we really know about our original friend in the top hero series!
1. Harrison Wells isn't just a popped-up character made for The Flash!
This could sound really false for most Flash fans because he's never appeared in the comics before. But he has appeared in a series from the past which I really came to love in my day:
The Super Friends (1980) !
This show was very popular with children back in the 80s (and made Aquaman likable). It had all sorts of adventures, from facing the Legion of Doom to Brainiac himself, it was a great cartoon that helped mold its fantastic yet memorable successor Justice League. This also happened to be the same episode where Dr. Wells would make his debut appearance as well as remain the same incarnation in the show we watch today (you'll see why):
Dr. Wells first appears in the episode Elevator to Nowhere. The episode starts off with Wonder Woman & The Atom getting a call of distress from Wells. When they arrive at his coordinates, they realize they have ran into a time machine Wells wants to test out with some JLA members (sound familiar in a way?). Wonder Woman & The Atom try to get out, only for Diana clicking the wrong key, sending them back to the Revolutionary War. They soon confront George Washington and through a bug fix by Ray in the time machine, they get back to their time (the 80s) and go again in a hot pursuit after Dr. Wells time travels centuries before. Does that sound familiar? Of course! Likewise the Eobard Thawne version of the character, he time travels too! But even his normal, real Earth-2 counterpart travels to another dimension via his technology! We can certainly say that these two incarnations of Dr. Wells are the same and relate so he is no rookie in the DC Universe!
2. He built S.T.A.R. Labs with his wife Tess and was a nice, good man.
We can all relate that the two Dr. Wells we have seen (Thawne and Earth-2) have something wrong with them. One acts nice yet is evil while the other's good yet arrogant:
As these two counterparts of the original are from the current "fractured" timeline, their lives relate a bit to contribute to the information we know about the original, lovable Prime Earth Harrison Wells we knew:
Much information is known about the original Harrison Wells both in the past and future. Wells and his wife Tess Morgan built S.T.A.R. Labs in the year 2020 and activated the particle accelerator that same year, giving Barry Allen his powers 6 years later than the present of now. Harry and Tess took to helping Barry through his coma and training him to become the scarlet speedster. His mentorship of Allen proves to show that even if he wasn't Eobard, who had experience in the Speed Force, he had trained The Flash very well for 4 years before Barry time traveled and brawled Eobard himself in the Allen House. We definitely miss you Harrison. Here's the picture of his sad, brutal death:
3. He's tricky & sneaky (at least Eobard or Earth-2)
Unless you are Wells, you are the best guy at disguise and attitude. As a villain, Harrison was the unexpected part of the mystery about the "man in the yellow suit." Earth-2 Wells didn't have a hard time getting out of STAR Labs and quickly stealing a weapon from Mercury Labs. We will always associate Wells with this:
Well, thats all guys! Hope you enjoy my article and feel free to comment below your questions, opinions, etc.
