Leah Remini has recently spoken up, revealing herself as the new face of anti-Scientology activism. The 30+ year veteran of Scientology has made startling accusations about her former religion, claiming that it can be harmful to children, however she's now gone beyond this simple statement, stating that Scientology can be outright abusive to its members.

In a "20/20" interview on Friday with Dan Harris, Remini revealed more shocking revelations to us, including the how controlling and damaging the Church of Scientology can be. Exploring topics covered in her new book, Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology, Remini revealed that the Church dominated her life and warped her mind.

"You learn how to apply the techniques of Scientology to yourself and others."

In Her Book Leah Remini Has Made Serious Accusations of Neglect

The New York Daily News reported that they obtained a copy of Remini's book, announcing that she recounts a dinner party which was held prior to Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes's wedding. She claims that Cruise's daughter, Suri, cried throughout the event, ignored by her parents and guests alike.

They further stated that Remini's book reveals that the prominent Scientologist Tom Cruise and his ex-wife Katie Holmes were neglectful of their daughter Suri.

Remini, after five long minutes, followed the sound of the crying baby to a bathroom where three women stood staring at the infant left lying on the floor.
The enraptured trio, including Cruise’s sister and his assistant, were gaping at the hungry child as if she was “L. Ron Hubbard incarnate” — Version 2.0 of the late Scientology founder.

This is a strange moment which I'm struggling to comprehend, but it seems that Remini is expanding on the notion that Scientologist's treat children as spiritual beings.

It's likely that more will be revealed in Remini's book, which I'm sure many of us are now anxious to read. If startling and surreal accusations like this are anything to go on the book is certainly going to be worth the purchase.

A Breakdown of Remini's 20/20 Interview

So what was covered in the interview, and what did Remini say that built up her accusations of neglect towards Suri?

During the interview, Remini and interviewer Dan Harris discuss strange aspects of the religion, including the fact that they require members, especially children, to sign a billion year contract to the Church of Scientology. Remini further elaborated that this contract is centred upon the fact that Scientologists strongly believe in reincarnation.

This point certainly creates a frightening sense of the previously mentioned scene in the bathroom with baby Suri. Did they truly believe her to be a reincarnated former member of the Church, and if so -- if they were staring at her so intently, did they believe her to be the L. Ron Hubbard incarnate?

Although Remini hasn't drawn parallels between Suri and her own poor upbringing as part of the Church of Scientology, her points -- which you can see in the attached interview -- certainly suggest that the Church has a history of poor treatment of minors.

The Discussion

Remini is presenting a frightening picture of the Church of Scientology through her "20/20" interview, and her comments regarding the treatment of baby Suri are extremely worrying. We have to consider that the actress could be exaggerating, however the arguments are very damning.

It's important to develop your own opinion and truly consider this issue, especially considering the accusations regarding Tom Cruise's neglect of his daughter.

Watch the video below and let us know what you think. It's definitely also worth having a look at Remini's book: Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology, which is scheduled for release on November 3rd 2015.
