Amy Schumer's vivacious spirit and unpretentious nature make her the kind of celebrity who is easily adored by both the general public and other A-list Hollywood celebrities.
The latest celebrity admirer to come out of the closet is superstar Selena Gomez who recently presented Schumer with the Hollywood Comedy Award at the Hollywood Film Awards.
Selena opened up to the audience saying:
"I talk about her obsessively, [...] I've tweeted her often. I try to impersonate her and it doesn't really work. I actually just met her so basically what I'm saying is I'm really happy that clearly Jennifer Lawrence wasn't able to do this tonight because I love you."
Selena is alluding to Schumer and Lawrence's BFF status in a light-hearted way. The Wizards of Waverly Place star went on to say that Schumer was the first woman to "speak to the generation of [her] generation."
Selena then revealed how the Trainwreck star had inspired and helped Selena personally
"Amy, you've inspired me not take myself too seriously when I sit on my couch and I'm depressed about certain things [...]
"You constantly made me feel I'm a bad ass even though most of the time I'm not. You say the things I wish I could say and you never ever make feel bad about anything I do in my personal life.
At this point, we think it's perfectly socially acceptable to reach for the tissues and wipe those teary reader eyes.
Amy then took to the stage and insisted that J. Law was never being considered to present the award:
"I didn't even ask Jen—Selena, you were my first choice.”
We can't help but feel the love between these two. It's so adorable.
Gomez isn't the only star who has nothing but high praise for the A-lister comedian. These other celebs also appear to partake in the obsession:
Successful comedian come actor Jon Stewart also weighed in on Shumer's talent, once stating:
“I think your comedy is informed, it comes from a place of real intention. A show like this would have been so good for you…But I didn’t see your movie at that point. F*ckin A - Boy, did you make the right… You’re like an actress star.”
Ellen Degeneres has also professed her love via Twitter when Amy discussed her political views on gun control in the US:
Bee Movie star Jerry Seinfeld is most definitely a member of what we're calling the 'Amy Schumer appreciation club for celebs,' sharing his praise on Twitter for the actress/comedian's hit movie Trainwreck:
So life pretty much couldn't be any better for Schumer. Not only is she the winner of the Hollywood Comedy Award, but she seems to command the respect of the general public and her Hollywood peers simultaneously.
Let's raise a toast for the hilarious Amy Schumer.
