I love hearing how an actor or actress rises from obscurity, and how they become successful after being cast in roles that would have buried lesser talent. I also love seeing the professional growth over the years that an actor/actress goes through. The CW has some of my favorite characters and shows, so I've decided to do some research for this article. I've compiled a list of my favorite actors/actresses and noted some early roles that you may or may not remember them by. We're going back to the past and shaking the memory tree a little.

1. Jared Padalecki & Jensen Ackles - Supernatural

As a longtime fan of Supernatural, I had to start off with the Winchester Brothers: Jared and Jensen. Both of these native Texans have grown right before our eyes, from teeny bopper girl crushes into leading men worthy of Hollywood fame. Yet, let's revisit their pasts and see what we find!

Remember Dark Angel, starring Jessica Alba? Well, our boy Jensen had a pretty badass role as Alec X5 494 . (WIKI)

Alec McDowell is named by Max (for him being a "smart aleck"). He is introduced as Max's breeding partner at Manticore, an order which is vehemently denied by Max. Alec is also the identical twin of Ben/X5-493, one of the original 12 escapees from Manticore. Ben (who was also portrayed by Ackles) appeared and was killed in the season one episode "Pollo Loco", and Max finds Alec's resemblance to him difficult to handle at first. When Manticore is destroyed, Alec escapes to the outside world. A genetically enhanced super-soldier, he makes money using questionable means, while wheeling and dealing. However he often follows Max's example, working at Jam Pony, and being a cat burglar. Alec often presents a cavalier attitude to the world while hiding his darker emotions. He is at first a self-absorbed magnet for trouble, but becomes a valuable ally for Max, and eventually, her friend.

Oh yeah, before I forget: Jensen played a bit character called Eric Brady on Days of Our Lives. Sorry Jensen, but I had to do it, brother.

Our boy Jared played Dean Forester, in Seasons 1, 4 and 5. (WIKI)

He is introduced as the new guy in town in the "Pilot". He entered into a relationship with Rory Gilmore (Alexis Bledel) after she shows him around Stars Hollow. Rory in turn quickly becomes infatuated with him, and he becomes the first serious boyfriend for Rory. Later, however, Jess Mariano is introduced. Although the couple were having problems before Jess, their relationship is further strained after Rory spends more time with Jess. Dean is eventually driven to jealousy by Jess' presence and this leads to the end of his relationship with Rory.

2. Stephen Amell & Katie Cassidy - Arrow

Before they played the DC Legends The Green Arrow and The Black Canary, Stephen and Katie had to pay their dues. If you are a longtime watcher of CW shows, then you know Stephen played a badass werewolf on The Vampire Diaries named 'Brady' and Katie played the Demon known as 'Ruby' on Supernatural.

Stephen Amell had to get naked for HBO's HUNG, starring as busboy-turned- male "ho" Jason, a younger rival to Thomas Jane's Ray Drecker. Yeah, he got naked a lot.

Katie has been seen in a number of memorable shows. She played Zoe on 7th Heaven, Juliet on Gossip Girl, and Ella Sims on Melrose Place. Where there was a need for a catty, cutthroat-but-beautiful young lady, Katie was your gal!

Did you know?

Katie is the daughter of former teen heartthrob and Partridge Family star David Cassidy. She even did a remake of his classic tune "I think I love you."

3. Joseph Morgan & Phoebe Tonkin - The Originals

Before they were hybrid vampires in the French Quarter, Joseph and Phoebe had been around the block on TV and the big screen. Although Phoebe is slowly becoming familiar with American audiences, she is already a household name in her native Australia. She starred for 78 episodes in the teen show H20: Just Add Water, where she played a mermaid with fellow Originals co-star Claire Holt (Rebecca).

Joseph Morgan played William Warley in Master & Commander, starring Russell Crow and he played a bigger role in Oliver Stone's Alexander starring Angelina Jolie and Colin Farrell, as Greek Soldier Philotas.

That's it for this list friends, I hope you learned something new about these great CW stars. Comment below and let me know what you think? Until next time!
