Unite, Hunger Games fans!
With the epic finale of Mockingjay Part 2 soon approaching (in theaters November 20th), it's a bittersweet time for Hunger Games fans. Fans new and old have been a part of the Rebellion with Katniss from the beginning, and now it's their time to shine!
Introducing: The Hunger Games Tribute website!
Welcome to the ultimate fan-fueled website created by the Hunger Games franchise! This website was created by Lionsgate to serve as an online voting hub for a month where fans voted on over 20 different categories of film moments and fan art of all creative kinds. In that time frame, more than 100,000 people voted on their favorite moments and over a 1,000 of those fans submitted their own personal fan art to win a chance to attend the actual Hunger Games Fan Appreciation Event that took place on October 31st.
Exploring the website, you can see that it's created for fans by The Hunger Games to show their appreciation for the support of the community throughout the years.
The Fan Appreciation Event
In this awesomely entertaining event, and every fan's dream, our favorite Hunger Games trio Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, and Josh Hutcherson were reunited to take part in a worldwide fan celebration. The event took place at the Samsung Space in L.A. and there was an open Q&A hosted by MTVs very own Josh Horowitz. Further proof of the connection with the fans was the Q&A, which received over 20,000—yes, you read that number right—questions submitted through social media worldwide. If that's not true fandom, I don't know what is.
Those who were in attendance were showered with the best love a franchise could give. Not only were they going to be in the physical presence of the biggest stars from the film, they were fortunate enough to take part in amazing, fan oriented events including The Hunger Games Virtual Reality Experience, The Mockingjay App, Faces of the Revolution Poster Station, prize giveaways and much much more.
During the live panel event, fans experienced some pretty awesome shout-outs from Sam Claflin (Finnick) and Willow Shields (Prim) as well as a new and EXCLUSIVE video from YouTube stars, The Fine Bros. But the icing on the cake was when they had the opportunity to experience the world premiere of an OFFICIAL clip from Mockingjay Part 2 entitled, 'Real'. Luckily for everyone, they released for everyone else to see, check it out below:
The event had many memorable moments; the stars chatted about their time spent together throughout the years of production—saying that they always intend to keep in close contact and hang out as the friends after their four year stint together.
When asked to share some of their favorite memories from set, the smiling trio had some very interesting stories to tell
J-Law shared that during production all three went to Wal-Mart and bought a bunch of slingshots before bringing them to a creek to play. That's when Josh thought that he had spotted something in the water—which turned out to be a leech! Josh got the leech suctioned to his hand, and instead of helping, Liam ran to the car, leaving Josh all alone with a leech nibbling on his flesh, ew! Not your typical break, but sure sounds like they know how to blow off steam!
The Hunger Games has an incredible connection with fans
It's truly amazing that The Hunger Games wants to connect with the fans and give them an inclusive and special experience. Launched after the Fan Appreciation Event, the Hunger Games Tribute website has now posted the winners from each category. It's amazing that they have provided such a great outlet for the Hunger Games fandom, allowing them all to stay united even after the last installment in the franchise, Mockingjay Part 2, is released.
Hunger Games, you are killing it. You're giving fans—like myself—the ultimate fan experience, over and over again. Being able to share the passion the franchise has instilled in its fans, and the creativity the films have sparked an entire community is unique. Trust me when I say that fans everywhere are honored to be apart of it!
As part of the newly launched website, they've also given us an edited video of The Hunger Games Fan Appreciation Event for those who've missed it:
You can't be a fan of the franchise without having your own favorite categories to nerd out on. Now that voting is closed and winners for each category have been selected, here's a quick highlight of all my favorites from the categories, voted for by the fans via The Hunger Games Tribute website.

It's so cool that a YouTube channel like Screen Junkies make these hilarious videos for the fans and Hunger Games acknowledged them for it. A job well done, on both accounts!
How adorable is this mini Effie all dressed up in Monarch butterflies? She is the cutest, most accurate cosplay I've ever seen! And Katniss' wedding dress looks like an exact replica from the movie. It's breathtaking how this fan took a visual from a movie and brought it to life.
And the winner is...
Katniss Everdeen - Mockingjay Dress by Yashunatafun
She really embodies the Mockingjay bird in full flight, and gracefully takes the winning spot.
And now, ladies and gentleman, the category that you've all been waiting for!

After watching the video of the event, it made me feel even more proud to be a fan. This event left me super pumped and more than ready to watch the premiere of Mockingjay Part 2.
