If you're enjoyably creeped out or just plain terrified of creepy dolls, you will have noticed the doll-shaped horror phenomenon that is Annabelle... but did you know that there's a new creepy doll movie on the block.
Meet Robert. He's 111 years old and he's haunted as all get out.
Check out the trailer for Robert's new movie then read a little more about Robert's dark, terrifying origins...
Robert was made by legendary toy company Steiff and supposedly inspired Chucky in Child's Play, which gives you an idea of this centenarian doll's history.
His first owner was Florida artist Robert Eugene Otto. Cori Convertito, curator of the museum who now owns (or should that be guards) Robert commented on Otto's odd bond with the doll:
What people really remember is what they would probably term as an unhealthy relationship with the doll. He brought it everywhere, he talked about it in the first person as if he weren’t a doll, he was Robert. As in he is a live entity.
Robert's weird effect on those around him is spookily described by Atlas Obscura:
Schoolchildren swore that he would appear and reappear, and they avoided the house... Visitors swore they heard footsteps in the attic and giggling. Some claimed Robert’s expression changed when anyone badmouthed Otto in his presence.
Creepy stuff... For the Robert movie, the designers have opted for an adapted version of the original Robert doll, more akin to the Annabelle movie puppet and bearing a striking resemblance to the Seed of Chucky...
The only question remains... are you prepared to see the Robert movie?
