That's right space fans! [Star Wars: Battlefront](tag:2684021) will be taking us back to the Battle of Jakku. EA are transporting us back a full 29 years prior to the events of Episode VII: The Force Awakens.

The Star Wars franchise is renowned for entertaining us with stunning space battles and breathtaking environments. This year's offerings from Star Wars Battlefront and Episode VII: The Force Awakens promise to offer all this and more.

This latest trailer for Star Wars Battlefront looks phenomenal, it looks so good that I wouldn't blame you for mistaking it as actual footage stolen from J.J. Abrams' upcoming blockbuster. You can even use this trailer as a prequel to the movie if you like. It is a stunning depiction of the action that precedes the events of the movie.

The Battle of Jakku was a large scale battle between the Republic and the Empire. Remember all those screenshots of the Star Destroyer downed in the desert, half covered in sand? That happened during this epic battle.

Oh, and for a little extra Star Wars trivia points, the ship that fell was called The Inflictor (I think).

Battlefront gameplay will take place in both new and iconic locations. The gameplay we have seen so far has taken us to the snowy Hoth, sandy Tatooine, gooey Sullust, a lava-spewing planet referenced in 1983's Return of the Jedi, and now to the historic Battle of Jakku.

EA have worked tirelessly with Disney and J.J. Abrams to produce a Star Wars experience that is consistent with the brand. The movie wants to focus more on new fabulous planetary environments over ship interiors and cockpit shots with blacked out backgrounds - more of a Columbus approach than Armstrong.

Star Wars Battlefront will be no different. Battlefront will transport players to far away worlds where we will have to wage war amongst some of the rarest and most beautifully hostile environments yet.

The Battle of Jakku will be available as a DLC, releasing on December 8th and will be completely free. Plus, if you preorder your copy of Battlefront you will receive the content one full week early.

Battlefront will launch on November 17th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Plus, an open beta will be held on all platforms during the first week of October.
