Hello, everyone. It has been awhile since I have written any articles, but I am back, and with something awesome! My dream Bond film!
Yes, that's right! Now to those who don't know me, I started on a very rocky path with the 007 films, my first experience being Die Another Day when I was very young. But I still loved the Idea of Bond, especially when Daniel Craig took us all by storm with Casino Royale, that being one of the best films I have ever seen! And I also grew up playing Bond games on my Game Boy and PS2, so yes, I love the 007 character and the world he is a part of. But what if I told you I have a great idea for a brilliant, original take on the titular role?
Interested? Good, let's get started!
An old, grizzled James Bond (played by Idris Elba) has been retired from duty for roughly a decade. He is haunted by his dark past as an assassin, and remains a reclusive outsider in the modern world. But when the agency he was once a part of, MI6, is revealed to be more sinister than it seems and has a direct link to a tragedy from his past... Bond is back, and out for blood.
Why It's Original
First off, we see an old, retired Bond. He suffers from PTSD because of a very dark past that just doesn't sit right with him. MI6 are the bad guys! Oh, and it's not an action packed film, but instead a very low-key thriller about a broken man seeking revenge and redemption. And most of all... The classic gun barrel sequence is where you least expect it... THE FINAL SHOT OF THE FILM!
This flips every last Bond cliche on it's head and it is something I would LOVE to see!
Why Idris Elba?
Because I feel he is one of the greatest actors of our time. Sure he has had his missteps, *cough* Prom Night *cough**cough* Ghost Rider-. But after watching him perform in the Netflix Original Film Beasts of No Nation a few weeks ago, I am sold on the fact that he is one of the greats!
I feel he can bring something new to the character that we haven't seen... a chilling side to Bond that we, the audience, and even Bond himself would be unsure of. This has nothing to do with the race card, only the fact that he is a fantastic actor and everyone KNOWS it!
What are your thoughts on my new but possibly controversial pitch for a Bond film? Also, are you excited to see Spectre this friday? Let me know down below.
