We've seen some pretty awesome movie reunions over the last few weeks and months, with Hocus Pocus cast members getting together over Halloween, and many of the All That cast taking part in a panel at Stan Lee's Comikaze Expo. But today my inner '90s bookworm let out an utter squeal of joy when I found out the cast of The Baby-Sitters Club had reunited for a 20th anniversary celebration.
That's right, it was 20 years ago that Ann M. Martin's beloved book series was turned into a movie, can you believe it?! Well, never fear, because although the film was released two decades ago, and the members of the BSC are now all grown up, the girls of Stoneybrook are still friends!
On Tuesday, cast members Rachael Leigh Cook (Mary Anne), Larisa Oleynik (Dawn), Schuyler Fisk (Kristy), Stacey Ramsower (Mallory), Bre Blair (Stacey) and Marla Sokoloff (Cokie Mason), along with director Melanie Mayron got together to celebrate the anniversary at the Alamo Draft House in Austin, Texas.
Not only was the film shown on the big screen, but the cast and director had a Q&A session with the lucky audience members. The Draft House was obviously just as excited to be hosting the gals as they were to be there, promoting the evening as “way more fun than baby-sitting for Jackie Rodowsky.” Classic BSC joke, Alamo.
Attendees to the event were encouraged to dress up as their fave characters from the series, and the Draft House even provided some Baby-Sitters Club-themed drinks, such as the Ann M. Martini, the Kid Kit and The Boss (though sadly I could not confirm if The Boss came with an accompanying baseball cap).
It's been a long 20 years since the members of the club were last seen all together, so what have they been up to in between meetings? Take a look:
