As each week passes by on Dancing with the Stars, it seems that the little ray of sunshine that is Bindi Irwin just goes from strength to strength. Yet now, it seems that there's a brewing legal issue that might just bring all of her dancing dreams crashing down.

It appears that Bindi's Dancing with the Stars contract just got rejected because of a ridiculous demand -- a judge has said he needs proof that her late father, Steve Irwin, is definitely dead. Isn't that crazy!?

What's happening?

Apparently, lawyers have submitted the 17-year-old's contract to the L.A. Superior Court judge, as required because she is a minor. Alongside this, her mom Terri signed a form that stated that she is giving up all the rights to her daughter's money earned on the show.

Bizarrely, in order for the contract to go through, Bindi also needs to get the same statement from her dad -- yes, Steve Irwin, the world renowned naturalist who tragically, and very publicly, died back in 2006 when he was struck in the chest by a string ray.

As it stands, nobody is quite sure whether the judge doesn't know that Steve died in 2006 (what planet has he been living on!?) or just wants a death certificate on record.

The Dancing with the Stars lawyers are reportedly working hard to make sure the judge drops the ridiculous demands.

Oh, and if you're interested, if Bindi's contract does go ahead, this would be her deal with the show:

  • A guarantee of $125k
  • By making it to weeks 3 and 4 she gets an additional $10k per week
  • Week 5 gets her another $15,000
  • Weeks 6 and 7 she gets $20k a week
  • Weeks 8 and 9 she gets $30k a week
  • Weeks 10 and 11 she gets $50,000 a week

So far, she's made it to week 8, cashing in a whopping $230,000! Not bad for a little lady!

Let's hope that all this legal business can be put aside so she can continue her winning streak!
