Quentin Tarantino has been making headlines lately for speaking out against policy brutality and marching with protesters in the heart of New York. As a result of his stance, police unions across the country have proclaimed that they'll be boycotting his highly anticipated film The Hateful Eight.
Well, the official trailer has dropped today, and I think it's safe to say that all those boycotters will be sorely missing out on one of the best movies of the year. Here's a quick breakdown of the trailer, and in true Tarantino fashion, there's no shortage of violence, banter, and Samuel L. Jackson being one badass motherfucker.
Samuel L. Jackson plays bounty hunter Major Marquis Warren
And he's looking to hitch a ride with one unaccommodating carriage (but he's not too keen on giving away his identity).
That carriage is transporting John Ruth and Daisy Domergue
John (Kurt Russell) has made Daisy (Jennifer Jason Leigh) his prisoner, and he plans to collect a bounty on her head for $10,000. Though she sports bruises and a rope tied around her wrists, Daisy is not one to be messed with.
They all end up in a lodge with some other colorful characters
John tells the rest of The Hateful Eight (including the Confederate, the Mexican, and the Cow Puncher) that Daisy is his bounty, and he plans to keep it that way.
When a ruthless gang appears, this untrustworthy bunch has to band together
Though John suspects Major Marquis (or any of the others) may end up betraying him and taking Daisy for their own, survival becomes a team effort, and so The Hateful Eight is formed.
