Scream Queens, Fox’s newest television show, features a modern murder mystery whodunit. One of the characters from the show I absolutely adore is Chanel Oberlin, played by the beautiful and incomparable Emma Roberts. On almost every episode, Chanel O. surprises audiences with a barrage of back-stabbing / insulting comments directed towards anyone in her way. She is a character most people find appalling, but then it hit me: Chanel Oberlin’s persona and true existence is of a good and treasured confidant. A person willing to offer a little constructive criticism with a dash of honest truth. Anyone would kill for a friend such as Chanel Oberlin, so here are five bonafide reasons why Chanel Oberlin is a friend worth having.

Chanel hopes to become a network anchor on a major news channel. In any career, you’re going to need to grease palms and crush the competition by any means necessary. Especially if one is forced to hobnob with ugly people. Her lesson is clear: If you desire anything from this world, pay your dues and climb the rungs of that corporate ladder. Thick skin washes away any insecurity stains and people will notice one’s accomplishments. Move over Marsha, it's Jane’s turn.

From previous episodes, Chanel has placed almost impossible assignments on her fellow sisters and failure is not an option. Oberlin knows if one can accomplish the impossible, there’s no obstacles to prevent greatness. Her real friends are those who can make good on their promises and ignore those who swallow flavored cotton balls.

Whether you're having a Pap Smear test or being charged with murder, image is everything. For Oberlin and those around her, it's the clothes that make the woman. No one dressed as a hoodrat will ever be respected for one’s mind nor social status. Fashion comes and goes, and when they go, move passed the '90s. Are those acid washed jeans you're wearing?

During Halloween, Chanel’s annual Chanel O’ Ween benefits girls who are unpopular, suffer from low self-esteem or are die-hard fans. Those privileged enough are given personalized gifts/cards to show appreciation for worshiping her. Girls need female role models to build self-confidence, and stand firm. All precious donkeys need is love, especially those in the plus sizes.

Oberlin reveals her vulnerable side, the side of failure when she was defeated for re-election as Kappa's president. Like the song, “Eye of the Tiger, the Queen of the fights,” it’s what she planned all along. Zayday, the newly appointed co-president, marked for death. Chanel O. becomes next in line for the presidency. As someone once posted on someone’s tombstone somewhere, “With Great Risk, Comes Great Reward.”

Chanel Oberlin may be this thin, rich girl who dresses like a Parisian fashion model, obsesses over making Chanel #5's life miserable, and has issues with her boyfriend sleeping with animals, but overall Chanel O is the friend you have been waiting your whole life for. She will wipe clean any notion of self-imposed identity and transform you into someone of substance and character. Chanel Oberlin, you are our Charlotte’s web and have entangled us with your wisdom. All hail Queen Chanel!

That’s my story and I am sticking to it. Reporting for Moviepilot, I am Brian A. Madrid.
