Most children are slaying Halloween even better than adults, and I find it absolutely impressive. Children have such beautiful imaginations!
One such kid is Liam Hutt, who channeled his inner fierceness as he dressed up as Cruella de Vil.
Just check out his transformation! The costume even causes him to adapt that villainous demeanor that only Cruella can own. With the help of his father Will, it looks like 9-year-old should have won every costume contest known to mankind that day.
Even though it's nearly 2016, and I'd like to believe that people wouldn't find anything wrong in something so harmless as letting a boy dress as an evil lady from a cartoon, Liam's father was met with slight backlash.
Will, being nothing short of the gentleman who knows how to truly take the high road, responded with:
It's interesting that people would find something so wrong with such a costume when gory and violent outfits are so readily acceptable by society.
Will chatted with the Gaily Grind, explaining that his son was applauded for his outfit more than he was judged for it.
“It’s very typical for people to assume that because he has two dads, that we somehow guided him in this direction. That is simply not the case. We have had to discuss the fact that he may be met with adverse reactions when wearing this type of outfit to school on Halloween and even out on the evening trick-or-treating.
Fortunately, he has a great school and very good friends that didn’t give him a hard time. I am not asking for applause or acceptance from other parents. I fully understand many probably have an issue with this, but I am perplexed by other parents criticism.
The most acceptable costumes for boys seem to usually have something to do with blood, gore, and killers. They find that more acceptable? I say live and let live. He’s 9. More kids should be allowed to explore their interests without fear.”
I couldn't have said it better myself.
