"He's a good kisser, and he didn't pay me to say that."
"She was definitely my little boy crush."
The cast of the Harry Potter franchise started off as mere kids. It has been amazing as viewers of the series saw them go right through their teenage years and come out the other side as fully fledged young adults.
Of course, for most of their Harry Potter careers these young actors were "going through the change" so who can blame them if the lines of friendship and romantic desire started to blur for these hormonal adolescents.
Find out about all the recorded gossip of who crushed on whom during the filming of the Harry Potter franchise.
You're going to be surprised.
1. Tom Felton for Helena Bonham Carter
"I did have a little thing for HBC for awhile. There’s something very unique about her. You can’t help but watch her when she’s on set. She’s gorgeous in every way. She was definitely my little boy crush for a while.
She is completely unique, an English rose with a crazy twist. She wears vintage French clothing and she's very cheeky. Off the set it's all hugs and darlings, then when the camera starts rolling she turns into a complete psycho. It's amazing to watch.”
Check out this interview of Felton and Carter together, Tom Felton looks like a hot adolescent mess watching the graceful Helena Bonham Carter speak:
2. Katie Leung for Daniel Radcliffe
During the press for Order Of The Phoenix, Katie Leung, who played Cho Chang, was asked about her kiss with Radcliffe in the film. We can only say that her answer was rather revealing:
"When we started it, we were both a bit nervous"
"He's a good kisser, and he didn't pay me to say that,”
"Everyone asks me that, but I didn't actually count,”
"It was a very relaxed atmosphere... I watched it last week and was quite pleased with it. [Radcliffe] is a gentleman.”
3. Tom Felton for Rupert Grint
Felton seemed to be really close to his male cast mates on set. Striking up really solid friendships with both Rupert Grint and Daniel Radcliffe. Felton had a short but sweet comment about Grint when asked if he had any Harry Potter on-set crushes:
"Rupert is a pretty sexy guy."
We knew the feeling is mutual when Grint went out in public wearing a t-shirt that is the most adorable thing ever since puppies:
4. Rupert Grint for Emma Watson
Rupert has always been a very open soul, so it did not take much digging to get this gem from him regarding how both he and best pal Daniel felt about their female co-star:
"I’ll be honest with you: it’s not something I’d say I’m dreading. Emma’s a pretty girl. Have Daniel or I ever hit on Emma? Well, she’s quite popular with the cast. As for who has the worst crush on her – me or Radcliffe – I’d rather not say."
We would rather you did say, Rupert. This is potentially the biggest gossip that is lurking under the surface of the Internet. A rivalry between two pals over a girl that is not interested in either of them as anything other than friends -- where is Rita Skeeter when you need her.
5. Bromance of Tom Felton and Daniel Radcliffe
Opposite to the characters they play, Tom Felton and Daniel Radcliffe seemed to have a very strong bond. When asked about Radcliffe, Felton only had the most heart-melting things to say:
"He is an endless inspiration to me, [...] [p]rofessionally, he is a phenomenal actor and he doesn’t take anything as a given. In between films he is doing acting classes, anything he can to improve himself.
"He is exceptionally polite, terrifically good with names and he hates people who are rude.
"But more than anything else he is exceptionally passionate."
6. Daniel Radcliffe for Emma Watson
Young Radders once admitted that he did indeed have a crush on Watson. However, when it was brought up in later years during press interviews and such, the star couldn't refute quicker that he still finds Emma attractive or at least just passes it off as a "first movie thing."
“I had a crush on Emma on the first film but not anymore.”
We totally believe you, Daniel. Why kid yourself? Besides, Rupert has already implied that there's some sort of competition between the both of you over Emma.
7. Emma Watson for Tom Felton
Having all the fellas run after you must have been a lot of fun for Watson as a teen, but the only boy who wasn't on the bandwagon, Tom Felton, was the only boy she wanted.
“For the first two movies, I had a huge crush on Tom Felton.”
“He was my first crush. He totally knows. We talked about it – we still laugh about it. We are really good friends now, and that’s cool.”
Tom Felton was also asked about Emma's crush when an interviewer said:
“She couldn’t walk on set without getting googly over you...”
This was Tom's response:
“very flattering... Going back a few years here but no, not really, I heard it through the grapevine and eventually we became good friends. We can laugh about it now, but yeah that’s testament to how long we’ve been doing this, she was possibly 9 or 10, 11 years back now so it’s crazy to think that we’ve actually been going for that long. But yeah very flattering (laughs).”
We're sorry Emma, we just don't think he's into you like that.
8. Matt Lewis and Emma Watson
Yes, we're also not really sure what to make of this one. Could it be we are just falling for the adept trickery of Mr. Grint? In an interview, Rupert dropped this childhood-shattering bomb:
“I noticed, too, the change in public awareness – overnight he became a sex symbol and it was nice for Matt to have his moment. He gave me a bit of stick with the kissing scenes with Emma, though, as back in the day he had a little thing with her.”
To round up:
Before they figuratively graduated from the set of Harry Potter and became independent adults, the romantic climate of the Harry Potter cast during their (pre-)teen years goes as follows:
- Rupert, Daniel and Matt liked Emma.
- Despite all being after the same girl, the boys (and Tom who explicitly wasn't into Emma like that) all became super tight and many bromances thrived amongst them.
- But Emma wanted Tom (so badly!)
- Tom wasn't really into Emma like that and had his eyes set on the majestic Helena Bonham Carter.
- There was also Kate Leung quietly waiting for Radcliffe on the side-lines, fondly reminiscing over their kiss.
- And amid all of this, did Emma and Matt actually have a "thing" at some point?
