What if I told you that actors from some of the best TV shows and movies actually faked their accents and they sound completely different talking in their native accent? Recently, I conducted some research and I was surprised by some of the results. Most of these are English actors using American accents; these are the top six actors with accents different to their famous onscreen counterparts that I've most commonly seen - listed in alphabetical order.
6. Andrew Garfield
Andrew Garfield is well-known for his role in The Amazing Spider-Man as Peter Parker. Garfield actually has an English accent, but in The Amazing Spider-Man he fakes an American one.
5. Andrew Lincoln
Andrew Lincoln, well-known for his role in The Walking Dead, like Andrew Garfield, fakes an American accent, but has an English accent. He does a damn good job, too, because I was surprised by this little fact.
4. Christian Bale
Christian Bale is well-known for his role as Batman in The Dark Knight trilogy. In the past 20 years, Bale has only been in three movies where he hasn't used a fake accent. He has a Welsh accent and uses an American one in most movies.
3. Colin Farrell
Colin Farrell, known for his many roles in movies such as Total Recall, Horrible Bosses and Miami Vice. Farrell has an Irish accent but is commonly known for faking all sorts for roles.
2. Heath Ledger
Ledger was known for his iconic role in The Dark Knight as The Joker. Ledger, unlike the others on this list, did not sport an English accent. He had an Australian accent, faking an American one for The Dark Knight, and others.
1. James Marsters
I'll admit, I was surprised when I found out that Spike's accent wasn't authentic. Marsters, well-known for his role in Buffy the Vampire Slayer where he played an English vamp, is actually American and was born in California.
