I don't think I could be any more excited for Michelle Pfeiffer's new film, Beat-Up Little Seagull. When it was first announced that she would be joining Robert De Niro in HBO's Wizard Of Lies, I thought it was a fluke, a one-time occurrence and that she'd do the film and be gone for two or three years like she's done so many times before. But instead, surprising me of all people, she went right from the set of that film into this new one and now we have our first look at her on set.
'Beat-Up Little Seagull' follows the life of a sensitive and fragile woman (Pfeiffer) who struggles to find footing in a fast-paced world. When her mother dies, she faces a crisis in which she must find a means for survival, all the while hiding her struggles from her new lover (Sutherland).
Our first picture shows Michelle relaxing on a couch or chair, her hair a shade we've rarely ever seen on her before. I have to confess when the film was first announced, I pictured her taking on more of a Marilyn Monroe kind of look. This just brings a whole new level of tantalizing for me.
Here's another. This on, of her in a rather risque outfit, was shot in a restaurant somewhere in the Brooklyn area. I have to say, for a woman of over fifty, Michelle certainly doesn't look it here (or anywhere else for that matter).
The final pic (so far) places Pfeiffer in a bar with co-star, Kiefer Sutherland who plays her lover. Michelle Pfeiffer has always managed to bring a bulk of grace and respectability to any role she takes on. Even in the simplest settings, she still manages to outshine everyone and everything else with her impeccable beauty.
If it wasn't obvious before, I'll say it more clearly: I just can't wait for 2016. Not only do we get to see Michelle tackle the real life struggles of Ruth Madoff, but we also get to see her in her first real Indie film! It's really going to be a great year to be a Pfeiffer fan.
