As much as we may love them, Amy Poehler and Jon Hamm are losers!
Now put the pitchforks down and read on.
Both stars have been nominated and lost multiple times at the Primetime Emmys. Hamm lost out on 15 nomination wins until his win this year for his final season on Mad Men and Poehler has also missed out on 15, as well as two Daytime Emmys.
Susan Lucci (All My Children) holds the record at 19 nominations before finally winning.
Hamm revealed on Late Night With Seth Meyers that back in 2013, both Hamm and Poehler held a party for all the losers.
Hamm had this to say about the 'Losers Lounge' party, which was held at the SoHo House in West Hollywood.
"There's more losers than winners. They should get a party too."
"We decided we would test the fates, and we decided one evening, randomly, to have a losers party. We hadn’t lost yet. We were nominated, but we were so certain we were going to lose."
Fellow losers, Jimmy Kimmel, Elisabeth Moss, David Spade, Fred Armisen and January Jones turned up while winners, including Tina Fey and Ty Burrell, were allowed in if they made a donation to the Worldwide Orphans fund, a charity chosen by Hamm and Poehler.
The Emmy's Losers Lounge party raised almost $20,000 for the charity.
As well as making a donation, winners were also told to leave their Emmys at the door according to Hamm.
“Don’t even bring it. We don’t want to see it.”
You can watch the interview below.
Jon Hamm, who just finished his seven season run on Man Men, can also be seen, and heard, in Minions and Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp.
Amy Poehler finished up on Parks and Recreation after seven seasons and can be seen on Inside Out, Welcome to Sweden, Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp and the upcoming Sisters.
I wish these two would just hurry up and make a TV show together!
