Check out our podcast down below to hear us talk about this episode:
After defeating Doctor Light, Barry brings her to Star Labs. He asks her for help in stopping Zoom which she agrees to despite her not believing that it will work. They decide to use her as bait for Zoom so Barry tells the rest of the group the plan. They are all still very skeptical of Wells except for Barry who seems to trust him. Patty is discouraged after Joe tells her the case on Doctor Light is closed, so Barry tells her that he is going to talk to him for her. Doctor Light uses her abilities to escape her cell so they go out to look for her. While Wells is preparing a speed dampening serum, Cisco tries to use his ability to find out more about him, but Wells knows what he is doing. Patty tells Joe about her and Barry and he tells her he's okay with it. Back at their house, Iris and Barry come up with the plan to put Linda in Doctor Lights suit, which they still have, so they introduce her to the Flash. They help Linda train to become like Doctor Light, using equipment designed by Cisco. After a few minor quirks, she eventually (kinda sorta) gets the hang of it. After talking to Joe, Barry decides to reveal his secret to Linda. Cisco is able to trigger his visions by touching Wells and sees that his daughter is being held hostage by Zoom. Patty keeps pressing Joe about Doctor Light's case and thinks that he doesn't trust her. The opening scene plays out and they wait for Zoom to show up at a singularity by the docks. After a waiting an hour, Wells leaves, upset that they were not able to bring Zoom out. Barry tells Joe that he feels like a void was left in him after not saving his mom and that in the confession Wells left he said," You will never be truly happy." Joe tells him that he knows Barry and that he should go and find his happiness which is Patty. After meeting with Iris, Linda is kidnapped by Zoom. Iris informs them of what happened and they find out he is on the roof of Star Labs. Barry saves Linda and confronts Zoom. He tries to use the ability Jay taught him, but it back fires when Zoom catches it and directs it back to him. Barry and Zoom engage in an epic battle with Zoom ultimately defeating him. Harrison tries to fire the speed dampener serum, but Zoom catches it and stabs Barry with it. He goes around the city parading an unconscious Barry, telling everyone that their hero is done. Cisco is able to tag Zoom when he arrives at Star Labs, but Barry is nearly lifeless. Joe confronts Wells who finally tells them about his daughter Jesse. Caitlin and Cisco go to see Barry who is awake, but he tells them that he can not feel his legs. A flashback of Wells with his daughter reveals that she knows of his involvement with the particle accelerator. He refers to her as Jesse Quick as she walks away. A little later Wells is watching the news which reveals that Robert Queen is the Hood, Oliver Queen has died and that there was an attack at Central City College, where Jesse goes to school.
This episode was action packed, especially in the last fifteen minutes. We actually see a good amount of hand to hand combat between Barry and Zoom in this one and it was epic. The scenes with Linda posing at Dr Light were just hilarious. As long as they continue putting this much into the episodes, I'll be happy. Check out these pretty cool stills of some notable sequences.
Zoom- We actually get a better look at him this episode and I've got to say he's got to be the scariest villain to make his way on this show. Not only is he faster than Barry, but he is a hulking figure as well. He held Barry above his head with one arm! He also makes it a point to say that "he is the fastest man alive". It doesn't look like anyone can stop him and that is terrifying. The question is why he sent all those people after Barry when he proved that he could easily kill him himself.
Jesse Quick- Hearing Wells say her name got me all excited. We will have to see what happens to her in the upcoming episodes. I'm hoping that she becomes a speedster herself, or is one in an alternate Earth.
Team Flash- Absolute hilarity this episode for the team, up until the end of course. The whole preparation up to the arrival of Zoo was great. Another thing is that they have a new addition with Linda on board. Hopefully the next person to join is Patty.
Barry and Zoom- Finally the two meet and it was a pretty intense showdown. I commend Barry for standing his ground against Zoom, but it just wasn't enough. Zoom had the upper hand the whole time and even paraded Barry's unconscious body around. The hatred Zoom has for him is deep, but he wasn't able to finish the job thanks to Cisco. It will be interesting to see what will go down in their next encounter and hopefully Barry will be more prepared.
Barry and Patty- It's about time Barry has a somewhat okay love life. These two are just adorable, so I am a little worried how she's going to take Barry being in a wheelchair, or if she finds out at all.
Barry and Joe-These two have been bickering quite a bit lately. You can't blame the guy for reacting the way he did this episode, especially when it comes to his kids.
Barry and Linda- The one thing that came to her mind when Barry unmasked himself was that she made out with the Flash. This is one of my favorite reveals on the show so far, just below Henry's and Joe's.
Wells and Everyone- Wells is just a joy to be around, I mean look at Joe's face. At least we know that he came to their Earth with the good intentions. He's got a lot to lose and thought that the Flash and his team could help him. His scenes with Cisco are amazing as well.
Earth 2 Arrow aka Hood- While Wells is watching the news it talks about Robert Queen being the masked vigilante called the Hood. Oliver is dead, so is this the Conner Hawke based character showing up on Legends?
New 52- This has been shown throughout the last couple episode, but I'm going to point it out anyways. I guess cable on Earth 2 is similar to Earth 1.
Kryptonite- I really want to say that this is Krytonite, but the shots make it hard to tell. It could also be something having to do with the Green Lanterns.
Whats To Come/Theories:
So Barry can't use his legs, but he apparently still has his speed. I wonder how he is going to stop a rampaging Gorilla Grodd who is looking to breed some mini versions of himself. Barry better learn to run with his hands or the team will have to build him a wheelchair durable enough to go at super speed. Or maybe we get to see someone else step in and help the team out. Things are looking a little grim for Team Flash at the moment.
This episode had pretty much everything you could possibly ask for from the show. Action, funny moments, feels, and a villain who can't be stopped. Literally. He may be hurt, but he will come back and they better be ready for him. This gets all the thumbs up I could give. It will be interesting to see what happens not that the Scarlett Speedster is out of commission. What did you guys think about the episode?
