2016 sees the release of two incredibly big games. One of them is the continuation of the beloved Mass Effect franchise, the other is a fresh IP by Hello Games, [No Man's Sky](tag:2684052). Both of these games have amassed a massive audience of followers, though [Mass Effect: Andromeda](tag:2683449) has a head start in that department. But even still, hype could be stronger for Sean Murray's indie title.

But when you look at these two games and dream of what you'd like to play in 2016, which title grabs your attention? Which of these games is the space title that you've dreamt of playing?

Which Release Date Are You More Excited For?

Mass Effect: Andromeda
Mass Effect: Andromeda

In terms of numbers, it's obvious that the Mass Effect franchise will surpass No Man's Sky in every capacity: fans, budget, profits. But that doesn't determine whether it'll be as great a success as No Man's Sky will be in terms of reception. Perhaps the latter will achieve a greater following in the long run. We've no idea what to expect right now, but the two offer some promising and dizzying heights.

In Hello Games' No Man's Sky, the universe will essentially be endless for you. It is finite, but all of its planets won't be discovered for several lifetimes. In this vast space, you'll uncover sights that no one else has ever seen, you'll name planets that no one else will ever find, and you'll engage with a quest that will take you to the centre of the universe. We've no idea what it'll be like to play this game.

We certainly know that No Man's Sky is hyped, and that Sean Murray is finding a way to cope with these extremely high expectations. But why wouldn't it be? We all have to tailor our expectations in some way, but we can't help but look forward to the adventures that lie in the depths of space.

This game will continue the legacy that is Bioware's Mass Effect franchise. Mass Effect is basically the Star Wars of our generation - even though our generation can't wait for [Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens](tag:711158). Mass Effect: Andromeda will be taking us to a whole new region of space. This galaxy will grant us new races, new adventures, and hopefully some endlessly captivating conversations.

But is this game more hyped than No Man's Sky? Are you waiting with bated breath for the release date of Mass Effect: Andromeda? Let us know where your loyalties lie in the comments below!
