WARNING: This Article May Contain Spoilers for Guardian of the Galaxy Vol. 2's Plot and Villain Details! Read at Your Own Risk!
Guardians of the Galaxy is often considered Marvel's best film to date, and with good reason. It was a box office and critical success and it introduced us to the next great Marvel baddie, Thanos.
As one would expect, fans have been anxiously waiting for the sequel, Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 2. While multiple reports have surfaced that the script has yet to be completed, Bradley Cooper, who plays fan favorite Rocket Raccoon, may have just spoiled the sequel's primary antagonist!
Is Thanos the Main Villain in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2?
Thanos had his hand behind the events of Guardians of the Galaxy, but we still aren't sure who the sequel's villain will be. In the interview, Bradley Cooper seemed really confused about the names of the characters, so he may not be the best source of information but he seemed to slip up and reveal Thanos will be the villain.
After being asked who the villain will be, he said Josh Brolin, who is obviously Thanos. He went on to say that it was the "main guy's dad," he must be talking about Ronin and not the main character Star-Lord, whose dad has been subject to much speculation. So is Thanos really the villain or is Bradley Cooper just confused?
Would that make sense?
While, yes, Cooper may have just been confused, it does make sense that Thanos would be the villain in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. With Infinity War on the way, this could be the perfect way to introduce the Guardians and Thanos to the rest of the MCU. Maybe the Guardians are chasing Thanos as he is on his quest for the Infinity Stones. I think it definitely makes sense and I could really see it happening! Bradley Cooper really shot that rumor out like a rocket!
Update: James Gunn has issued a Tweet that stated that Brad didn't spoil anything. Whether this is just damage control or what have you, check it out here:
