With eight days left until the official release of [Star Wars: Battlefront](tag:2684021), marketing is heating up around the highly anticipated new multiplayer game from EA, Lucasfilm, and DICE. As with many blockbuster titles, a few familiar (but, to their credit, very believable) celebrity faces have begun to pop up in ads.
The latest is an homage to the untimely (but very smooth) death of Obi-Wan Kenobi, the Jedi Master that saw things "from a certain point of view," who trained both Anakin Skywalker and, to an extent, Luke Skywalker. But here, there is no sadness -- instead, the everyday people who disappear, leaving only their clothes behind, are teleported directly into the game. The last of them is actress Anna Kendrick, who is known for playing video games and getting involved in some pretty nerdy antics when she can. Check it out:
After she recites Obi-Wan's famous last words, Kendrick is transported into the game on the burning planet of Sullust -- and comes face-to-face with the might of the Empire.
The marketing behind this particular game is similar to that of any other Star Wars merchandise at the moment: Immersive, heartfelt, and fun. Here again, Lucasfilm invites fans to feel the Force for themselves, welcoming into the wild world of a galaxy far, far away.
Players who pre-order the game will receive early access to the Battle of Jakku, the first major event that takes place in Star Wars canon after the Rebels' epic victory above Endor in Return of the Jedi. Jakku plays a major part in [Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens](tag:711158), and while fans have gotten just a taste of it throughout the newly released novels (wanna find out more about that crashing graveyard of Star Destroyers? Read Lost Stars!) the game will put players right in the middle of the action. This is just one of the various play styles available in Battlefront, where players will also get the chance to take the reigns on characters such as Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, and Boba Fett -- just to name a few.
