If you've read the Harry Potter books, you know that certain things were left out of the movies, little details that we really wish we could have seen on screen. It's understandable that they have to leave out some things of course, but there are a few things they could maybe have done...differently. The guys over at Dorkly made some hilarious illustrations showing the differences between the books and the movies, and they are so very accurate.

1. Peeves

In case you haven't read the books, Peeves was a poltergeist who did everything he could to make the students at Hogwarts miserable. He was so full of mischief and chaos, only The Bloody Baron and Dumbledore were able to control him. Peeves had a particularly large hate-boner for the caretakers and it would have been so funny to see him interact with everyone's favorite party-pooper Argus Filch.

2. Pettigrew's silver hand

Remember when Pettigrew cut off his hand in a ritual to bring Voldemort back to life? And then Voldemort made him a new magical silver hand?

It almost seems as if Voldemort is showing compassion, like he cares for Pettigrew. This goes against everything we know about Voldemort, so why does he do it? In the books it all makes sense -- Voldemort cursed the hand so that if Pettigrew ever proved to be disloyal, the silver hand would choke him to death. This eventually does happen, when Pettigrew spares Harry's life in a moment of mercy. In the book the hand chokes him to death, but in the movie they left this part out completely. It's such a small detail, so it wouldn't have taken much longer to film it, but it would have made the movie significantly darker and shown us that Voldemort didn't care for anyone. Perhaps they left it out because it was too grim? In my opinion they should have kept it.

3. The mystery of the Half-Blood Prince

One of the biggest mysteries throughout Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was who the hell the Half-Blood Prince was. Harry spends a lot of time and effort trying to figure out who this mysterious person could have been, and it was a big deal when we finally found out that Snape was the owner of the book. It's safe to say a lot of fans were disappointed when the movie came out and they barely even mentioned it.

Reddit united to expand the list

The Dorkly list caught the attention of Reddit and somebody made a post asking what else they would add to the list. A great question, if you ask me, as there are several more things I would have liked to have seen in the movies. Here are some of the best answers.

The Marauder's Map

I understand that they had to cut this one out, but it's still a shame. Books will always be better than movies just because we get to enjoy all these little details.

Ginny was one of the most badass characters in the whole book series, and the movies merely portrayed her as Ron's shy little sister and later on the lame love interest of Harry. I will never forgive them for that!

Dumbledore's reaction

Dumbledore is supposed to be a pretty chill guy, but in this scene he's portrayed as a crazy mental patient that just escaped from St. Mungo's.
