If you're like me and you get a little squeamish when confronted with utter terror in a video game, then you probably think it's incredible that a whole community of modders has your back well and truly got.
Whether it's running the opposite way when a horde of frostbite spiders begin giving chase in Skyrim, or being relentlessly pursed by Nemesis in Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, there's nothing quite like the pressure of being active in a waking nightmare.
Well with that in mind, modder [Lebowski]-=ThArK=- has managed to create a mod that takes the Xenomorph out of play in the PC version of Alien: Isolation. So now you can explore the classic, retro chic of the Sevastopol without the constant thought that you may be impaled by that damn alien at any given minute.
Whilst saying that though, [Lebowski]-=ThArK=- explained on Steam how they went about the act and that the alien hasn't been entirely removed from the game:
The way to do that is making a little mod on the file ALIEN.BML that the game uses to set the alien attributes.
At the end of the file there is a line that sets the alien behavior with "alien_behave" and I replace it with "NoBehavior" so the alien still is there in some vent but doesn't make anything. It is frozen.
Bear in mind, on your casual saunters through the stunning ship, you can still be taken out by Working Joe droids, those fun time facehuggers and the occasional human. So, have a care, yeah? Just... a little less.
