Despite talk to Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk 's horror anthology, American Horror Story, finally crossing boundaries and becoming too dark and salacious for its fan base in its fifth season, it still proves to be FX's heaviest hitter.
According to Deadline, FX's CEO John Landgraf is still immensely happy with the series and we likely won't see it going away anytime soon! As its highest-rated show and 13 Emmys to its name, it should still come as no surprise that the network has renewed American Horror Story for a sixth season.
Even without the irreplaceable Jessica Lange in American Horror Story: Hotel, the show had its second largest premiere viewership beat out only by its predecessor, American Horror Story: Freak Show. This season features a familiar cast of characters, including Matt Bomer, Sarah Paulson, Wes Bentley, Angela Basset, Chloë Sevigny, Kathy Bates, and one major newcomer, Lady Gaga.
Along with the untitled sixth season of American Horror Story airing in 2016 comes another Ryan Murphy production, American Crime Story. Murphy's second FX show will focus on real-life American crimes, starting with the OJ Simpson Trial.
American Crime Story: The People Vs. O.J. Simpson stars Cuba Gooding Jr. as Simpson, John Travolta as Robert Shapiro, Semla Blair as Kris Jenner, David Schwimmer as Robert Kardashian, and an AHS fan-favorite, Sarah Paulson as Marcia Clark.
As always, won't know much of the details about the upcoming season of AHS until we get closer to the release date, but we can probably expect to see some of our favorite actors return along with some new faces to join the ensemble cast.
At this point I think a lot of fans can agree half the fun is in the speculation! What would you like to see American Horror Story cover next season? Let me know in the comments section.
