I've been looking recently for anything to take my mind off of Star Wars: The Force Awakens and I found it in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. So I've been giving a lot of thought to the titular fight involved, it's a classic after all, and a debate which doesn't even need stirring to get fans hollering at each other. However, while there's no definitive answer to the question, I thought I'd break down what each combatant has going for them. You can check out the Superman version of this here (or at the end of the article).

1. Preparation

In Dawn of Justice, it's been two years since Superman had his fight with General Zod, meaning Batman has had the chance to study the Man of Steel, prepare and plan for this fight. A Batman with two years of time to set out how he's going to beat someone is a Batman whom I can't imagine anyone would be excited about going up against. No, Batman can't beat anyone with prep time, he is human and can only achieve what is physically possible as a man. Still, Batman can beat Superman. I'm not saying that he would defeat him purely because he has prep time, but he possesses the capability to take the Man of Steel down because he can play...

2. Mind Games

While Superman has the powers of a god, he is essentially an ordinary man in all other respects, something Batman will exploit to the fullest. Even though he is severely outmatched, the Dark Knight is fully aware of this, and will take full advantage of this in order to bring down Superman. He's going to bluff his way out of corners, play with Superman's conscience, and confuse him as much as he can, and then he'll strike with all the force that he has. Clark probably has a lot of guilt over what happened in his fight with Zod, and that could be a weakness that Batman exploits. Whether or not that's enough though, only time will tell.

3. Conviction

It's common knowledge that Batman doesn't actually have any superpowers, right? Well actually, it can be argued that his undying, unstoppable, and unquenchable thirst for justice, and his drive to do the right thing, is a superpower in and of itself. Bruce Wayne was there on the day that Superman's inexperience cost hundreds, if not thousands of lives. Hence he feels that this new alien needs to be put in his place, and if, in his heart of hearts, he believes that doing this would be carrying out justice for the world, then there is no power in the universe that can stop him.
