**Spoilers ahead if you did not watch Monday night's episode of Gotham, "Tonight's the Night"**

For two seasons now, we've seen Ms. Barbara Kean, detective Gordon's fiancee, in the background of Gotham's chaos. But on Monday night's episode, we saw Kean come forward with her attempt to get back her beloved Gordon. Kean who is a now turned murder causes trouble for everyone around her including herself, after she fell from a window and is now in critical condition.

Actress Erin Richards, who plays Barbara Kean, believes that this is only a small setback for her character's goal in life. This also involves not following along with Theo Galavan's plans. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Richards explains Barbara's new outlook on life, why she can't let Jim go so easily and where she wants to see Barbara in the future.

Alright, but let's get down to why Barbara can't seem to let go of Gordon. On Monday's episode, we saw Barbara trying to get Jim back by any means necessary - even kidnapping and attempting to murder his new love, Leslie Thompkins. But why go to such extremes? Richards explains that Barbara only wants Jim to see that they were great together and she wants to pull him away from his good cop routine to a darker side of him that he refuses to show.

"She wants to go back and tell Jim, 'Listen, we were a great couple. I knew there was darkness within you, because otherwise we wouldn't have been together in the start anyway.' She wants to pull him out of this goody-goody cop that he's pretending to be and bring him into her dark place so they can have fabulous sex and cause trouble in this new dark world together. (Laughs.) She wants to play with that, she wants to bring it out of him in the most crazy, violent way that she can, so that she can explode him open. She's so frustrated by who he's pretending to be."

Aside from not being to let Detective Gordon go, Barbara seems to enjoying the rush and chaos that she causes amongst Gotham. She's more free and wild. Barbara is not the "old Barbara" that we all saw in season 1 where she was trapped and constrained. Richards says:

"When she was "Old Barbara," she was so constrained in her life, she felt like a caged animal because she had all these people surrounding her that she didn't — not that she didn't trust them, but she didn't get anything from them. She kept asking Jim to let her into his life, and he wasn't, and she obviously wasn't part of her parents' lives, even Montoya wasn't letting her in anymore, so she just felt trapped. And now she's this new, dark being, and she can do whatever the hell she wants. She's the most free, dark, fun version of herself, and she's loving it."

Since Barbara is free, wild, and does whatever the hell she wants. It seems that she will be creating more trouble in Gotham in the next upcoming episodes or maybe she will reveal Detective Gordon's darker side. It's possible that Barbara will lure Jim to the darker side but maybe subtly because she's trying to help him see who he really is.

Gotham season 2 continues Mondays on FOX.
