So, it's finally happened. Fallout 4 has received its release date, and millions of players have been unleashed upon Boston's wasteland. Across the board, Fallout 4 has received praise from gaming publications and gamers alike, but its reviews aren't as impressive as those of Skyrim before it, and there's a reason for that. After all, gaming has really grown since 2011.
Fallout 4 has gameplay issues, as any game does. But rather often you'll run into problems that impair your complete enjoyment of the game. These issues have persisted throughout Bethesda's development career, and they really need to get fix the situation before the release date of Elder Scrolls 6. We love you Bethesda, but you have some real issues that need ironing out.
Elder Scrolls 6 - Learn From the Gameplay Mistakes of Fallout 4
When Skyrim came out in 2011, there was one persistent glitch that almost every player of the game encountered - I certainly did! It involved flying mammoths. You'd be happily wandering through Skyrim's beautiful countryside and suddenly happen upon a herd of mammoths and giants. All of a sudden, a mammoth would be thrust hundreds of feet into the air, only to come crashing down and die in front of your eyes.
You'd get some pretty sweet rewards from the corpse, and to be honest, the glitch was so funny that you didn't even care. But Fallout 4 has glitches out the ass. I can't seem to go to any location in the game without encountering some form of graphical error. We've always forgiven Bethesda for these hiccups in the past - after all they make some incredible games - but the presence of glitches is interfering with Fallout 4's success and we really don't want Elder Scrolls 6 to follow suit.
In Fallout 4, I've seen my companions get stuck in environments far too many times. It's one of the most frustrating aspects of the game, to the extent where I'm actually surprised if they help me out in a firefight. I've seen textures completely disappear, quests fail to start, I've encountered massive framerate dips, and the game has even crashed on me already. This really shouldn't be happening with a game that has this kind of budget in 2015.
No More Glitches On Release Date, Please!
I get it, this a trope with Bethesda's work, we've all had similar experiences. And we often use the excuse that it will be fixed later, either by Bethesda or by the modding community. But it just happens too often in Fallout 4, especially considering how low the game's graphical quality can be.
Comparing the game with, The Witcher 3 from earlier this year, makes you realise that Bethesda should have been able to fix this. Isn't this company more successful than the small CD Projekt RED? Shouldn't I be able to walk through an interior without having framerate issues and characters getting stuck in walls Absolutely!
Yes, Fallout 4 has an incredible story, and a fantastic open world to explore. But that doesn't justify the prevalent glitches and bugs that I and numerous other players have encountered. We want a lot more from Elder Scrolls 6, rather than simply leaving the fixes to the modding community. Is that too much to ask?
