In this day and age, seeing one of your adored franchises return from your younger years in the form of a HD remaster, or HD remake, is almost a given. [Jak and Daxter](tag:3637225) was one of those a few years back, and the HD collection is damned beautiful! But still...

We Want More!

So pweeeetty.
So pweeeetty.

Naughty Dog have brought us some remarkable games over the years; from Crash Bandicoot to [The Last of Us](tag:1190382), they've earned a reputation for excellence. Naturally, a lot of us would like to see them take another stab at a Jak and Daxter game, but this famed developer has other plans.

Well...You Can't Have It!

But...why?
But...why?

Here's what Arne Meyer, the Community Strategist for Naughty Dog, had to say on the topic of Jak and Daxter 4:

I would not bet in favor of it. We did try it; we did try. I mean our fans really love Jak and Daxter, so we did try. I think you’ve seen the concept art that came out when we were exploring it before we settled on The Last of Us.
Ellie, is this YOUR fault?!
Ellie, is this YOUR fault?!

Naughty Dog have grown into a very different developer since the days of Crash and Jak. "The types of stories we’re telling right now really are grounded in realism." Therefore, when they tried Jak and Daxter 4, they apparently just couldn't make anything fit.

Is There No Hope For Jak and Daxter 4?

Well, it's not completely hopeless.
Well, it's not completely hopeless.

The move from realism to fantasy seems like too big a leap for Naughty Dog right now, and Meyer couldn't see anything happening with Jak and Daxter for a good while.

It doesn’t mean that we wouldn’t be able to do it in the future, though.

Well, I suppose that's reassuring...kinda.
