It is a common thing these days for a trailer to be released for a superhero movie about 6 months before its release. However, it will commonly 'leak' (supposedly) a couple weeks or days before it is meant to. Comic-con came around this year and all the trailers were actually well contained. However X-Men: Apocalypse did have a leaked cam-recorded one of course.

Mass Marketing

A large marketing tool these days is to attach a trailer for an upcoming blockbuster to a current blockbuster. And boy oh boy, has 20th Century scored big time. Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens is probably one of the most highly anticipated movies of the century - and why not increase ticket sales some more? Well Marvel's next installation, [Captain America: Civil War](tag:994409) (May 6 2016), apparently has their trailer attached to the upcoming Star Wars release. What this means is some Marvel fans will be going to see the movie, just to see this new trailer.

But that is not all Marvelites. It has just been confirmed that the trailer for the final installation in the prequel X-Men films, [X-Men: Apocalypse](tag:1194267), will be also attached to the December 18 release. The force will definitely be strong with this film!

“I can in fact confirm that information. Our first trailer will be on Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It’s our first thing out there so it is somewhat of a teaser but it’s certainly longer than a minute and it has a ton of cool stuff in it.”

- From Collider's interview with producer Simon Kinberg.

What is to be expected in this trailer? Will we possibly see shots of Hugh Jackman due to the reshoots? But knowing the caliber of the past two movies, I am sure this trailer is going to be great!
