With only a few more episodes until Doctor Who closes the doors on series nine, fans will soon be treated to the much-anticipated Christmas special. While not much is known about the specific plot of the special, it's been known for months that River Song would be returning to the TARDIS since fans last saw her in the series seven finale The Name of the Doctor in 2013.
Now news is surfacing that the Christmas special will be making its way to theaters for two days only, December 28th and 29th at 7:30pm for both nights. With an approximate run time of an hour and thirty minutes, the newly released description from FathomEvents reads:
"It's Christmas in the future and the TARDIS is parked on a snowy village street, covered in icicles, awaiting its next adventure. Time traveler River Song meets her husband's new incarnation, in the form of Peter Capaldi, for the first time! Don't miss this unique opportunity to celebrate the holidays with fellow Whovians in cinemas this December."
The special will also include "an exclusive interview with Alex Kingston and a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the special featuring Peter Capaldi, Steven Moffat, and more."
Could this be the special where we see River's first interaction with the Doctor, and not just with Capaldi's incarnation? There are sure to be theories abound on forums and social media alike.
Be sure to check out FathomEvents for more information on the two-night event. In the meantime, prepare yourselves for the epic first interaction between Peter Capaldi and Alex Kingston!
