Warning: spoilers for the Flash episode "Enter Zoom" below. Continue at your own discretion.
Yes, I realize that I'm about three weeks late to the party on this one, but, hey, I've had a busy season. Alright, Flash fans: Zoom.
Just who is this maniacal speedster that is so determined to murder the rest of his kind? Well, I believe there are three main possibilities.
Possibility 1: Evil Barry Allen
This "leaked" photo (which is of questionable authenticity), clearly shows our hero Barry wearing a black and gold version of his own suit. The problem with that is, the Barry we know and love, after being brutally assaulted by Zoom, is lying in a bed at STAR Labs saying that he can't feel his legs. Which, being a speedster, could be a bit of an issue. This could mean that Zoom has succeeded in stealing Barry's speed. But this Black Barry doesn't resemble Zoom at all. However, we have yet to see Zoom without his mask, so it is still entirely plausible that he could be an evil version of the Scarlet Speedster, which would be an epic plot twist if only to make our hero have to fight to avoid becoming in our world what he gave into becoming in another.
Possibility 2: Evil Henry Allen
There are a lot of people hoping this one happens. I think it would be an interesting dynamic to see Barry have to cope with fighting his dad's evil twin. On the other hand, with everyone thinking that Henry Allen's doppelganger is Zoom, it would be kind of a letdown if he actually was. Which is why we need to move on to...
Possibility 3: Evil Eddie Thawne
This is probably the most likely (if not the most unexpected) candidate for Zoom's secret identity. Eddie is one of the only major characters whose Earth-2 counterpart has yet to put in an appearance on the show, which automatically bumps him pretty close to the top of the potential contender list for Zoom's secret identity. Not going to lie though, I really, really, REALLY envy that suit he's wearing in the above photo.
In conclusion, chances are pretty good that whoever Zoom is, he'll end up being the last person any of us expect him to be. The writers of The Flash are good like that. They know how to pull the ol' switcheroo at the last possible second. And can I just stop talking about Zoom long enough to say that Patty Spivot is basically the most adorable character on tv right now?
