Both Final Fantasy 15 and the Final Fantasy 7 Remake have seen some brief news updates in the last few days. Neither of these games have their official release date yet, so it can be difficult to discern which title your more excited for at times. Final Fantasy 15 has been several years in the making, whereas a Remake of Final Fantasy 7 has been something we've desired for perhaps even longer.
But there's been news for both of these games as of late, and I'm wondering whether they've impacted on your thoughts and hype for both Final Fantasy 15 and the Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Are you excited for both titles? Is there only one of these games that you're looking forward to?
News for Final Fantasy 15 & the Final Fantasy 7 Remake
So, what's the news? Earlier this week, Final Fantasy 15 Game Director Hajime Tabata revealed that the pre-beta version of the game was finally complete. They've been focusing on attaining this goal for the last six months, and they've finally achieved it. However, there's still room for new additions, and due to fan feedback and demand, he confirmed that Moogles will be added to the game at some point in the future.
Square Enix's community manager came out and talked about fan's reactions to the news:
Whoa, hang on guys! A pre-beta is a preliminary step to a beta version so FFXV has not gone into full beta just yet. FFXV’s development is going along well but not that well :P.
So basically what this means is that the game is getting close to having all the assets locked down but there’s still room to change certain things (not everything) if need be. If the game was in beta, they couldn’t add any Moogles in :).
There's a little insight into game design for you! Good news all round I suppose. However, the Final Fantasy 7 Remake had some rather different news. Nobuo Uematsu, the man who gave Final Fantasy 7 its remarkable sounds, will not be returning as the composer for the Remake. In a livestreamed interview, he was asked if he'd be making a return. "Not at all," was his retort.
It's disheartening to hear that this great man won't be making a return to the game, but then Square Enix are making some drastic changes to Final Fantasy 7. Square Enix is experimenting with a new battle system in order to update the old turn-based combat, and there will be a few other changes according to statements from the team. Does this worry you?
