Star Wars: Battlefront is but a few days from our grasp - at last we will have our revenge. Unless of course you have an EA Access pass, in which case you can start playing it immediately on XBOX One, you lucky... Let the dancing ensue!
Listen to Vader, And Play Star Wars
But for those that are waiting for what could be one of 2015's greatest games, there's one way that you can prepare for the ultimate Star Wars battles - play other Star Wars battles.
Star Wars is one of the few movie franchises that has great video games attached to its name. Therefore, we thought we could celebrate its legacy with a look at the ten best that you need to force into your life.
Ten Star Wars Games to Improve Your Life
If I've neglected a game that you feel should be represented on the list of the ten best Star Wars games, then let me know in the comments. The following are in no particular order.
Star Wars: Republic Commando
Short and sweet, Republic Commando is an excellent FPS, even outside of the context of Star Wars. You play as a badass leader of a badass group of elite badass clones, and the whole adventure is a blast...er. The game even manages to make your squad mates emotionally relatable, there's even a tearjerking scene in it. Well done, Commando!
Star Wars: Battlefront II
The prequels were worth it just so we could play as Darth Maul in this game - the man was ridiculously OP. If you want to see how far the 'Battlefront' series has come, you need to check out one of my favorite games on the PS2. At least this one has space battles. *death stare*
Star Wars: Tie Fighter
The graphics in this PC game from 1994 used to bring tears to my eyes, now they do it for other reasons... Star Wars: Tie Fighter has certainly aged, but it remains one of the best games in the series. Gamestop once labelled it as "the best space combat game ever made." So there you go.
Star Wars: Empire at War
I don't care what some reviewers say, I think this one of the most enjoyable RTS games I've ever played. Who doesn't want to control an army of AT-ATs, AT-STs, and clone troopers on Hoth, or move tons of Imperial Cruisers across the expanses of space? Crazy people, that's who! Great sounds, great visuals, and engaging gameplay, what more do you need?
Star Wars: The Old Republic
Bioware's huge MMO is still going strong, and it has the added bonus of being completely free to play. So yeah, there's a Star Wars game out there that you can get for free which is actually fantastic. Hundreds of hours of content, excellent music, great voice acting, and tons of nerdy conversations lie in your wake.
Star Wars: Rogue Squadron
This was one of my all-time favorite games on the N64. You really felt like you were in control of one of the coolest ships ever designed - it kind of made my childhood. You can still grab this game on PC, and we highly recommend you check it out. Star Wars: Battlefront is taking inspiration from this beauty for sure!
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
Okay, look. I know a lot of people gave this game a hard time, but I genuinely adore Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. Any game that allows me to pick up a Wampa (aka Star Wars Yeti) and throw it around like a rag doll is something I'm going to praise. There's a lot of fun to be had with Force Unleashed, just dodge that sequel. Dodge it, I say!
Super Star Wars
One of the great treasures on the SNES, Super Star Wars (God, I love that title) was famous for one thing: brutal difficulty. Like seriously, this game would hand you your ass! But it was worth it for its sound effects, great music, and battle-laden retelling of 1977's Star Wars.
Star Wars Jedi Knight II - Jedi Outcast
Praised as the greatest Star Wars game to date in 2002, Star Wars Jedi Knight II - Jedi Outcast is a game that demands your attention. It had a mature plot, great characters, and gameplay that inspired. I mean, the screenshot says it all really. A classic.
Star Wars: Knight of the Old Republic
Forget being a great Star Wars game, Star Wars: Knight of the Old Republic is one of the best games ever made. Bioware took their storytelling prowess to the world of Star Wars and accomplished something that no one could have imagined. It has a genuinely shocking plot, more engaging characters than you can think of, and some of the most enjoyable RPG gameplay around. Masterpiece, people, a masterpiece.
BONUS ROUND - Star Wars: Bounty Hunter
I don't want to hear it. This game is incredible. End.
