It's a sad day for Star Wars fans. Allow me to introduce Lawrence Kasdan: writer and director extraordinaire. Haven't heard of him? Then let's set you up with a look at his impressive resume. Kasdan worked on the screenplays for Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back, Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi, and Raiders of the Lost Ark. He also helped write Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens, wrote and directed The Big Chill and Silverado, and is set to write the script for a Han Solo anthology film set for a 2018 release.
Thanks to Star Wars Underworld (who got their information from German Tabloid Bild) we now know that the Han Solo film will be Kasdan's last mark on the Star Wars saga. Kasdan says that he wishes to spend more time with family, and writing the Han Solo film with his son Jon Kasdan allowed for him to spend time with both family and the franchise.
While we are terribly sad to see Lawrence go, we are forever grateful for what his talent and hard work brought us in some of our favorite movies, and we wish him luck in his future endeavors. The Han Solo anthology film is set for release in 2018, with The Lego Movie directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller set to direct.
