The information that has been released from the set of Suicide Squad makes you really wonder how this film is going to turn out, especially what Jared Leto, the new Joker has been doing. While everyone else is having fun giving tattoos to each other, he's not only sent dead animals to them, but just completely isolated himself. This is most likely his way of method acting to transform into the character.
Jared does have big shoes to fill after Heath Ledger (R.I.P.) and everything that has been said about him tells you he's doing his very best!
Jared Leto Fulfilling the Purpose of His Character
According to Suicide Squad's producer, Charles Roven, Jared Leto isn't joking when it comes to becoming the Joker. Except that to be the Joker, he has to be a bit jokey of course.
Look, you know, it was different, it was fun. The group first wasn’t sure because the AD’s had to call him ‘Mr. J’ to get him to come to the set,
Leto is such a great method actor that to get him on the set, you have to call him by his character's name, not his real one. To portray Mr. J, he becomes Mr. J.
And he did in many ways isolate himself from the rest of the group, but that’s really what his character was, the purpose of his character in many ways, other than when he was with Harley or trying to get Harley. It was very entertaining, it was fuel for a lot of good sport and a lot of laughs, and his isolation bonded the squad, and we wanted the squad bonded.
We already know that the Joker will be chasing Harley in the film and that's going to be something fun to watch!
Possibly A PG-13 Film?
From what's been speculated, Suicide Squad may be going for a PG-13 rating and Jared Leto may be pushing a PG-13 Joker. Producer Charles Roven told Collider that the film is definitely shot under an R-rating, and it may be a bit on edge. This means that there will still be a ton of action and violence to see on-screen next year!
