It seems like a day doesn't go by without Jennifer Lawrence being in the news. It's not hard to see why – the affable actress seems to always talk sense, and tackles big issues in the industry, showing the kind of strength Katniss would be proud of.
However, even someone as emotionally tough as J-Law feels the pain of heartbreak. In an interview with ABC, she looks visibly emotional as she discusses her relationship with ex Nicholas Hoult, who she dated for five years.
Talking of the break-up, which coincided with filming the final Hunger Games movie, Mockingjay: Part 2, she said:
"I was also in a relationship with somebody for five years and that was my life. So my life was this person and these movies and we broke up around the same time that I wrapped those movies."
"Who Am I?"
Lawrence was visibly holding back tears in the interview. It's clear to see she still has a lot of affection for Hoult. She said:
"Being 24 was this whole year of, ‘Who am I without these movies? Who am I without this man?"
Being on good terms in itself is a good thing. Considering normal breakups are hard enough, imagine going to work with your ex, when your work is filming one of the biggest Fox franchise movies. No pressure there, then...
The pair will be sharing a screen on X-Men: Apocalypse in 2016. It was even rumored Hoult was considering trying to win her back on set. I'd personally like to be a fly on the wall when this happened. "So, hey... fancy hanging out in my trailer for a bit?"
"I don't know if I'll get married"
When asked about marriage, Lawrence said she doesn't know if she'll get married, but she's fine with it. Essentially, this comes down to her being content with life as it is – she doesn't feel the need to find love to complete her as a person. You go Jen!
However, she would like a child one day:
"I don't plan on being married... I might. I definitely plan on being a mother."
Since dating Hoult, Lawrence had a brief, high profile relationship with Coldplay singer Chris Martin, although this has now ended.
Due to their passionate onscreen chemistry, there have also been rumors of a relationship with Bradley Cooper. Although Cooper himself has denied this, Lawrence recently referred to him as her "work husband," which reportedly made Cooper's girlfriend, Irina Shayk, jealous... Oops!
"I'd love to see change"
The Oscar winner also spoke about her ongoing battle against the gender pay-gap in Hollywood, saying she "had to talk about it." On average, women get paid 21% less than men in movies, and this is something Lawrence would like to see improved. She said:
"We can ask for the same thing that men do. We face the reality we do get judged more. It’s something that is intrinsic. I’d love to see change."
