With 2015 coming to an end, this is definitely one of the harder round-up lists to write. This year many iconic celebrated personalities passed away during what must have been a difficult time for their families, friends and fan bases.

This list is to commemorate many recently deceased celebrities for whom many of us in the Moviepilot community cared.

We hope our heartfelt best wishes find their way to the families and friends of these people whose loss is something they will inevitably deal with every day.

1. Rick Ducommun

The 62-year-old Canadian died this year of unknown causes. Ducommun had starred in movies such as The 'Burbs and Groundhog Day.

2. Amanda Peterson

The Can't Buy Me Love actress died at the young age of 43 after being found dead in her apartment. She died of a drug overdose.

3. Nathaniel Marston

This star, aged 40, tragically passed away from severe injuries after a car crash. Nathaniel starred in '90s classic The Craft.

4. Gunnar Hansen

The original Leatherface in 1974's Texas Chainsaw Massacre died of pancreatic cancer at age 68.

5. Al Molinaro

The Happy Days star died at the astonishing age of 96. He died from complications due to gall stones.

6. Fred Thompson

The 73-year-old actor and ex-US senator Fred Thompson died this year at age 73. He appeared in movies such as Die Hard 2 and Cape Fear as well as popular TV show Law & Order.

He died due to a rebout of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

7. Yvonne Craig

Yvonne Craig, who is famous for playing Batgirl in the Batman series died at age 78. The star had died of breast cancer that had spread to her liver.

8. Bobbi Kristina Brown

The 22-year-old died after being found unconscious in a bath-tub early in 2015. The daughter of deceased superstar vocalist Whitney Houston was unconscious in a coma for several months. Her friends and family were unsure whether she was going to make it for months on end.

9. Omar Sharif

Oscar nominated Omar Sharif died at the age of 83 after suffering a heart attack. The accomplished actor appeared in movies such as Doctor Zhivago and Lawrence of Arabia.

10. Sir Christopher Lee

The film industry lost a true legend when Sir Christopher Lee passed away. With an astounding resume including the role of 'Saruman' in The Lord Of The Rings trilogy, the actor has left behind a lasting legacy. He also played Count Dooku in the Star Wars prequel trilogy.

Sir Christopher Lee died at age 93 in hospital due to heart failure problems.

11. Anne Meara

The passing of Anne Meara, the mother of Ben Stiller and wife of Jerry Stiller, was felt particularly strongly by the Moviepilot community.

The star known for her roles in Sex And The City and All My Children died of natural causes at age 85.

12. Sawyer Sweeten

Sawyer Sweeten known for his role in Everybody Loves Raymond, the 19-year-old took his own life.

Our condolences to this young actor's family. Sawyer truly had so much potential.

13. Ben Woolf

Famous for his role in American Horror Story, Ben Woolf tragically died this year from a stroke. He was only 34 years old at the time.

14. Rod Taylor

The actor famous for appearing in The Birds as well as his role as 'Winston Churchill' in Inglorious Basterds. The 84-year-old died of a fatal heart attack.

15. Cynthia Lennon

The first wife of rock legend John Lennon died this year after losing a long-term battle with cancer. She was 75 and is survived by her son with John named Julian Lennon.

Paul McCartney offered his condolences around the time of her passing:

"[T]he news of Cynthia’s pass is very said. She was a lovely lady who I’ve known since our early days together in Liverpool. She was a good mother to Julian and will be missed by us all, but I will always have great memories of our times together.”

16. Leonard Nimoy

Leonard who played Spock in the Star Trek series died at the age of 83 after battling with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. He will be greatly missed.
