For a couple of months now, 20th Century Fox has been on the lookout for a [Gambit](tag:612399) director. Rupert Wyatt, the director that did fill the position, quickly left just in September. This was mostly because of scheduling conflicts and possibly not wanting to direct two movies that start with 'Gamb' after just working on 'The Gambler' with Mark Wahlberg. An unnamed studio exec said exactly why he left right here:

He wants to make the best version of something, and he’s so desperately afraid of making something not good.

As the film is set to be released next year, Fox needs to find someone to fill the chair soon. It seems now the search is finally over!

The Possible New Director Is Doug Liman!

An unexpected choice, but it might actually turn out pretty well for Fox. Liman has worked on films such as: The Bourne Identity, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Jumper, Fair Game, and Edge of Tomorrow. Some of these blockbusters made a ton of money, so things could be looking good for the future of Gambit. Channing Tatum (Gambit) has been supporting Liman for quite some time now and seems excited to be working with him! If Gambit himself is rooting for him, that should say something. It is still yet to be known when the shooting for the upcoming film will begin, but now that Fox has found their director, it should be starting soon.

Simon Kinberg To Become A Strong Producer!

Simon Kinberg, who has worked on Fantastic Four, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Chappie, The Martian, Cinderella, and a whole lot more, will reportedly be "exercising" a strong hand as one of the producers. From all this being said, the hype is starting to build for the 2016 film!

Gambit is scheduled to be released in theaters on October 7, 2016!
