I love all things zombie and having suspense drawn out to build up tension. I like out right jumps and i appreciate a good scare.

The 1990s was a magical time for those who experienced it. There were trends in every part of the world, but I can only personally relate to trends that occured in Britain. We had Pogs (they came in crisp packets), Naf-Naf Jackets, Fruit of the Loom t-shirts and many more trends and fashion mistakes! However, the movie side of the 90's was gold dust. Every movie was ground-breaking and original. The silver screen was still relatively young and many areas were still to be explored. Here are 10 movie that show just how amazing this time was for movies. I hope you enjoy!

Ace Venture

'Like a Glove!'
'Like a Glove!'

Ace Ventura is arguably one of the funniest movies of all time. Jim Carrey was the golden boy of movies in the 90's and almost everything he was in was brilliant. Ace Ventura is responsible for great catch phrases like 'b-e-a utiful' and ''like a glove".

Silence Of The Lambs

'Fava Beans and a nice....'
'Fava Beans and a nice....'

This movie has now become iconic, with the introduction of Dr Lecter and Clarice Starling, the first female F.B.I profiler, this movie was ground breaking for all the right reasons. A deep psychological film that gave us classic quotes like,

"It puts the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again".

The introduction of Hannibal Lecter has evolved into multiple sequels and a TV series. The Silence Of The Lambs is definitely a classic movie and a shining example of why the 90's were great when it came to movies.

Jurassic Park

Jurassic Park was the first introduction into cloning and dinosaurs. The cast was unheard of, and there had never been a movie about dinosaurs before so the film makers were brave in the 0's to take this risk, and it paid off! This movie won best actress, best director, best film and best adapted screenplay at the Oscars! Jurassic Park not only did well at the box office but sold a huge amount of merchandising. There were 2 more films with different successes and recently Jurassic World was released to continue on this iconic legacy.

Dumb And Dumber

Harry and Lloyd

Dumb and Dumber was a movie about two friends who want to have a better life and decide to go on an adventure to return a briefcase. They pack up and hit the road and hilarity ensues. The are both moronic, yet manage to appear very clever and as if it is all deliberate. Again, the first real 'bromance' movie that lead the way for most other comedies like 21 Jump Street and 22 Jump street, and we should all be thankful for that.

'I'm Flying Jack'
'I'm Flying Jack'

Titanic is a classic tragedy and it's hard to believe that Titanic was a 90's film. Its timeless feel has made it acceptable for every new generation that watches it. There was a time when every person could play 'My Heart Will Go On ' by Celine Dion, and it was all thanks to this tragic tale of an ocean liner that sank. Despite the characters Jack and Roase being in love on-screen , the same could not be said for Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet who despised each other during the filming of this movie. Based on a true story Titanic captured the hearts of millions and continues to do so.

The Power Rangers Movie

The 90's gave kids everywhere the first Power Rangers movie, which was all the rage in the 90's. Every child loved the Power Rangers and everyone had their favourite colour. With the introduction of The Power Rangers Movie, kids everywhere eagerly anticipated its launch , and there was a lot of merchandising that went with that. Now, The Power Rangers has adapted with each generation but the 90's gave kids what they wanted and when they wanted it.

Austin Powers

'Oh Behave'
'Oh Behave'

The '90s was responsible for giving us Austin Powers: International Man Of Mystery, with his out of date quotes like 'groovy, baby, yeah!' and 'oh Behave'. The world became a better place when Austin Powers came on the screen. A brilliant character done by Mike Myers, Austin Powers was a geek who lead the way in cool. The 90's would have been a duller place without him!

The Blair Witch Project

The Blair Witch Project was revolutionary in its filming. The first popular 'found footage ' movie has spawned many other movies in this style, such as Paranormal Activity. The Blair Witch Project introduced us to the psychological aspect of horror where the 'bad guy' wasn't the thing you saw, it was the terrifying events just like the mysterious hands hitting the tent etc. A shining example of why the 90's was awesome for movies.

Toy Story

'To Infinity And Beyond!'
'To Infinity And Beyond!'

The 1990s also brought us Pixar and their groundbreaking animation, Toy Story. This type of computer animation was unheard of in the 90's. Pixar took the brave step to release this film, and we thank them for it. Toy Story is a classic film with brilliant phrases like 'The Claw' and ''To Infinity And Beyond'' that made every 90's child who saw the movie quietly wonder if their toys were real too! Since then, Pixar have done some amazing films like Wall:E and Up, and have no plans to quit anytime soon.

Hocus Pocus

I smell Child'

As one of the all time best Halloween films ever, the 1990s was responsible for giving us Hocus Pocus! Even 23 Years later, this film is watched every Halloween and beloved by millions. With a brilliant story and a great soundtrack, Hocus Pocus was the first 'funny' comedy for kids! The characters played by Bette Middler , Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker are iconic and there are rumours of a sequel. The future looks good for Hocus Pocus fans!

Pretty Woman

A true gem of the 1990s, it is hard to imagine a world without Pretty Woman. A story about a young prostitute who is 'hired' by a rich client, Richard Gere. Then, she enters a world of luxury hotels, and spending and is the ultimate story of 'a diamond in the rough'. Thank you 1990s, for such a timeless film!
