As if we didn't already love the wonderful theme park enough, Disneyland is getting ready to kick off one of the biggest events during their 60 Year Diamond Celebration in Southern California: Season Of The Force.
"What exactly is this 'Season of The Force,'" you might be asking?
Season Of The Force will be an opportunity in which YOU (the "park-goer") will be submerged into the culture of the Star Wars universe! Through new ride experiences, various image and prop galleries, video game adventures and even a 4-D spectacle that promises a great highlight reel for the long time fans & a clever introduction for all the new timers.
As if you weren't hyped up enough, Season of The Force will be completely taking over the Tomorrowland section of Disneyland, starting November 16th!
Now with Season Of The Force kicking off this week, here are 5 things you and I should be looking forward to!
1) Star Wars Launch Bay
If you're interested in checking out some of the props, replicas, and images from past Star Wars movies and even some of newer ones from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the Star Wars Launch Bay will for sure be the place to go!
Explore the Dark and the Light in Themed Galleries
Dark Side Gallery – Get a look at authentic pieces of stormtrooper armor as well as famous Sith lightsabers once wielded by masters of the dark side.
Light Side Gallery – Explore a gallery filled with Rebel flight helmets and lightsabers once wielded by Jedi Knights.
Preview Gallery – See items built exclusively for Star Wars Launch Bay by the same prop makers who worked on the upcoming film, Star Wars: The Force Awakens
Starship Gallery – Discover models of famous starships from throughout the Star Wars saga.
Oh yeah. Did I mention that you also get the chance to meet the legendary Darth Vader and/or the best co-pilot ever Chewbacca?!
Choose Your Destiny with Special Character Experiences
Dark Side – Encounter one of the most iconic villains from Star Wars, Darth Vader.
Light Side – Fly casual at this makeshift Rebel base, and meet the most famous co-pilot in the galaxy, Chewbacca.
As if all of that isn't enough, during your time in The Launch Bay you'll have the chance to play some of the "latest games from the Star Wars galaxy, including Disney Infinity 3.0 – featuring park-exclusive Toy Box levels."
You can totally find me spending about 70% of my time in there.
2) Hyperspace Mountain
You know that extremely kickass indoor-rollercoaster called Space Mountain? Well they've gone and redesigned it, exclusively for Season Of The Force, so it may be (yup, you guessed it!) Star Wars themed!
Guests will launch into a galaxy far, far away aboard Hyperspace Mountain, finding themselves in an action-packed battle between Rebel X-wings and Imperial TIE fighters.
I'm gonna be kicking some Imperial a** aboard this ride.
3) Star Tours - The Adventure Continues
I can't be the only one that has ridden this ride over a hundred times, right?
I've faced the Empire on the Death Star, survived the sea monsters on Naboo, out-rode Scout-troopers on Kashyyyk, and beat Sebulba in a pod-race on Tatooine. And I'm quite sure you have, too!
But now, all thanks to Season of The Force, we will be able to experience a brand new adventure and venture onto a new planet, that was all inspired by Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Hop aboard a Starspeeder 1000, and be among the first to enjoy an adventure inspired by a new location from Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
I've never been more excited to wait in line for a ride. I can't wait!
4) Star Wars: Path Of The Jedi
The Tomorrowland Theater has been one of the pinnacle spots over the years in the Disneyland park. It has been the home to Captain EO, has given us previews to films such as Guardians of the Galaxy and Tomorrowland, and now is the latest attraction to join the Light Side, during Season of The Force to bring us Star Wars: Path Of The Jedi.
Relive Luke Skywalker’s path to becoming a Jedi in a [10-minute] film that recaptures favorite Star Wars moments on the big screen. If you’re a longtime devotee, this is the perfect opportunity to relive your favorite scenes and make new connections between the films. If you’re a new fan, you’ll become immersed in an entertaining introduction to all of the major players and themes
You had me at "Luke Skywalker."
5) Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple
Continuing the ever popular, fan-involved entertainment show, younglings will have the opportunity to take part in the Jedi Training Academy during Season of The Force. Although it is currently closed, to be "Force" ready, the Academy will reopen on December 8th and will include a brand new villain!
Opening December 8, [younglings] will experience a twist on the Jedi Training experience when they encounter new characters and a new villain from the popular Disney XD series, Star Wars Rebels.
This makes me wish I was a youngling once again. I hope they accept older Padawans!
And here's a bonus: Star Wars Themed Food!
A "themed" takeover isn't complete without food items being based around that theme!
Thankfully, the good people at Disneyland and Star Wars knew they couldn't leave that off the list for Season Of The Force.
Choose the dark side or the light at this new themed food and beverage location. In the space that currently hosts Tomorrowland Terrace, the Galactic Grill will serve up specialty menu items inspired by both sides of the Force.
Darth Tamale – Blue corn tamale with scrambled eggs and chorizo, red chili sauce and tomatillo
Lunch and Dinner
First Order Specialty Burger – Angus beef and chorizo patty topped with fried cherry peppers, spicy-lime aioli on dark bun.
The Pastry Menace – Éclair with milk chocolate filling and a hint of cayenne pepper.
And of course, who can forget those adorable, Star Wars themed collectibles!
A BB-8 sipper...
and a TIE-Fighter premium popcorn bucket!
I want one of everything, please. Thank you so much.
