Is it a crime that I haven't written about Spider-Man, my favorite superhero, in a long time? Well, that's because there has been little to no buzz around Marvel lately. There has been tid-bits of news about casting, but nothing extraordinary. We were expecting a [Captain America: Civil War](tag:994409) trailer over a month ago and it still hasn't come out yet. It is supposedly premiering with Star Wars IIV: The Force Awakens, along with the [X-Men: Apocalypse](tag:1194267) trailer. It looks like Star Wars is taking all the buzz lately, so let's take a step back and talk about Marvel!
Captain America: Civil War comes out in about 6 months time and we haven't even seen a trailer yet. Since Marvel and Lucasfilm are both under Disney, they probably collaborated on when these trailers are coming out. I'm hypothesizing that they wanted to pump everyone up for Star Wars and then after it comes out, we will get a trailer for Civil War. The marketing for the other comic book movies (Deadpool and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice) will start after Star Wars comes out too. It will be less than two months until Deadpool comes out , so the marketing will go bonkers! As for Batman v Superman, they will probably drop another trailer and start marketing in early February.
Anyways, the real question here is what we will see in the new Civil War trailer. Will it be the D23 expo trailer? I think the answer to that question is a big no and that is because that was barely even a trailer. Marvel skipped Comic Con, but wanted to show something so they slapped a bunch of footage together which resulted in the leaked, blurry trailer most of us saw. I really hope it won't be that D23 trailer, because that would be a bummer. They said they are not releasing that trailer, so if they clean that up and post it and call it a new, official trailer, I'm going to be furious.
In reality, I don't think Marvel would do this. They know everyone has seen the leaked footage and they had a bunch of time to be cooking up a nice trailer for us. Also, it wouldn't generate a lot of buzz because no one is going to make trailer speculations or review the trailer because people have seen it, especially the people who went to Comic Con. Those people will be especially pissed.
Let's go with the assumption that it's a brand new trailer, where most of the footage is new. We will probably see all the characters on each other's teams and we will probably see Iron Man's new armor. Hopefully, we see some fighting where Hawkeye isn't asking Black Widow to dinner tomorrow night. We will see some cool action shots and they have to make it a good trailer because they need to get people to start talking about this movie again. Well, you are all probably thinking the same thing as I am and that is:
Is Spider-Man Appearing in the Trailers?
Here are two questions with a common answer: Will Spidey appear in the trailers and do I want him to? The answers to both are no! It is the same thing for Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailers and posters, they want to keep this a secret. Let's take the Luke Skywalker example. They have not shown Luke in any trailers, posters, video games, novels, comics, merchandise, or anything Lucasfilm has put out regarding the Force Awakens. Does this increase or decrease the hype for the movie? Think about that because either way, Disney are likely to follow their trend depending on how successful hiding Luke has been.
Why would you want to see Spider-Man? Marvel should keep a secret and it would be so much cooler to see him appear in the movie. Marvel isn't Lucasfilm and we will probably know what he's going to look like before the movie (whether it's a LEGO set or a TV spot that is made) because the people who make TV spots do it to lure people in. I believe Marvel will try their best to keep Spider-Man a secret.
