It's around this time of year that I start to get the Christmas carol itch, and one that pops into my head quite a bit is "Where Are You, Christmas?" by Faith Hill. (Because seriously, where are you, Christmas? It's been like a year.)
While watching strings of lights being hung around my town the other day, I got to wondering: whatever happened to Cindy Lou Who? You know, the central character of How the Grinch Stole Christmas who isn't green. So I took a look at IMDb, and this is what I found:
Believe it or not, Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas came out in 2000 - fifteen years ago! Taylor Momsen was only seven years old when the film was released. Now, at age 22, does she look different.
She's had a pretty successful career since her breakout role with everyone's favorite Christmas grump. Other than appearing in Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams and Underdog (alongside Peter Dinklage, it's worth noting), she played Jenny Humphrey in Gossip Girl from 2007 to 2010 (with some appearances in season 6).
What has she been up to after Gossip Girl? Well, she fronts a band called The Pretty Reckless, who have toured with Evanescence and Nickelback. According to Wikipedia, they are the "only female-fronted band to hit No. 1 on the rock chart with two singles" (source). Here's one of their music videos (which was released as one of iTunes featured free music videos a few years back):
Is that really our little Cindy Lou Who? She's traded in adorable gravity-defying braids for ball gowns and red latex dresses. Hopefully, though, she has continued success in all of her musical and acting endeavors!
