The Hunger Games franchise has probably been one of the biggest book to film successes behind Harry Potter. It has far surpassed Twilight which came before it mostly because the story and the characters are all around more interesting. But either way, the last film, Mockingjay Part 2, opens this week and we will say our final goodbyes to Katniss, Peeta, and Gale.

Starting in 2012, The Hunger Games opened in theaters and had huge success at the box office. Jennifer Lawrence became a household name and then took off as one of the most successful actresses of the last few years.

What will fans go to next for their young adult, book to film series? There is Divergent which still has two films that need to come out before the series is over. That franchise has not been as successful as Twilight and Hunger Games were even though it is a similar storyline to Hunger Games. I think the fact is that Hunger Games is a better story than Divergent is even though the stories are almost identical. The casting of Divergent was not very strong either. I think that Shailene Woodley does not have a strong enough personality to portray Tris to her full potential. She doesn't have the presence that Jennifer Lawrence does either. On the other hand, the male cast of Divergent though is a total success.

There is also The Maze Runner series that has been pretty successful but still nothing compared to Hunger Games. Is the world getting tired of the post apocalyptic story?

It could be. There isn't even as much buzz around Mockingjay Part 2 as there was about the first three. The story has been told so many times in so many ways that they are all starting to morph together. So will the film industry find another young adult novel about a post apocalyptic city with a female heroine? They might or there is the chance that they are getting the hint that this is not as interesting a story as it used to be.

But hey! I'm sure there will be something new for teenagers all over the world to line up at the midnight screenings for. Personally, I love seeing novels get turned into films and no doubt this will always be a trend. It is a mystery to see what will come next!
