Valve and the number '3'. Its been an industry-wide joke for years that they can't count further than 2, and we kinda wish that a lot of other publishers would learn from their example - looking at you Ubisoft and your [Assassin's Creed](tag:437814) 9! But Valve is a unique developer in the world of Video Games. They have a reputation for remarkable quality, and perhaps moving past Half-Life 2, or Left 4 Dead 2 doesn't spell quality for them.

But if an additional Half-Life, Left 4 Dead, or Portal game was likely to happen, which franchise would have your vote? Are you dying to uncover the conclusion that Half-Life 3 is likely to bring? Do you need more zombies to kill in Left 4 Dead 3? Or is Portal 3, and the glorious puzzles it's likely to bring, all that you desire?

Which Valve Release Date is More Likely?

To be honest - especially after this Half-Life 3 info leaked a while back - we can't see any of these games getting a release date. Valve are making copious amounts of money every year with third-party sales through Steam, and also micro-transactions with DOTA 2, Counter-strike GO, and Team Fortress 2. Therefore, do any of these sequels even make sense for the company, regardless of whether their fans desire them?

Portal 3 - Puzzling Heaven

After Portal 2, Valve said that it was extremely unlikely that they'd ever release another singleplayer-focused game. Their expansion into the realm of multiplayer has been far more rewarding - and profitable - for the Valve corporation. They don't seem to be interested in turning out sequel after sequel, which is of course a good thing in this day and age!

But there's something about Portal that makes it almost the perfect franchise for sequels. Throw in a bit of humour and a ton of complicated puzzles for us and a friend to wrap our heads around, and we're done. But this might not be something that Valve are interested in whatsoever. Do you desire it?

Left 4 Dead 3 - Is This Franchise Truly Dead?

Left 4 Dead 2 is one of the best multiplayer games out there, regardless of the platform it's on. The team mechanics are perfect, the gunplay is rewarding and accurate, and it's all wrapped up in a bleak world, sprinkled with some good old fashioned humour. Left 4 Dead 3 is something that a lot of people have asked for, and there have been sightings of it in the past.

But even though we're talking about a game that's enjoyed as a multiplayer, does it seem likely that Valve could return to it again? Would you like to see this IP leave their office and have another developer bring it life?

The recent leak regarding Half-Life 3 detailed a pretty bleak situation for the sequel's future. Allegedly, the game has been in production for years. Now however, there's a skeleton crew of about 10 people working on one of the most anticipated games of the 21st Century. Valve see no reason to release it, and they fear the backlash from gamers, citing Mass Effect 3 as an example.

Are Left 4 Dead 3 and Portal 3 in the same situation? Are they doomed to never being made? Which game do you desire the most? Let us know in the comments!
