The new Ghostbusters reboot, directed by Paul Feig and starring Kate McKinnon, Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, and Leslie Jones is looking to forge its own identity. The fact that everybody seems to be most concerned about is that it's a female led cast, but let's be real... that shouldn't matter since all of these ladies are hysterical.

Bloody Disgusting recently reported that 'Slimer,' one of the more iconic characters from the original movie, would be in the film.

“The IMDb cannot be trusted but, according to the site, The Simpsons voice actor Dan Castellaneta will be lending his talents to Slimer.” They later updated the article saying, “Bloody Disgusting can exclusively confirm that Slimer will be in the film.”

Paul Feig debunked this, though on Twitter, recently.

Here's that original Tweet that you can't see in his Quoted RT:

So, nope. None of this...

And none of this...

...in the new Ghostbusters film.

But I think the most important factor is that this is its own movie. New actors, new characters, new plot, etc. A reboot rather than a remake. We'll see how it does next summer... and whether the haters will be proven wrong.

All we know is that that IMDb credit is probably wrong.
