The Story:

The episode opens up with Supergirl taking down a large alien causing trouble at the DEO headquarters. Kara then meets with Alex back at their apartment, waiting for the arrival of their mom for Thanksgiving. Alex is afraid of her mom's reaction of her letting Kara become Supergirl, while Kara thinks that she will be okay with it. Eliza Danvers greets Kara at the door and the three share a happy reunion with her seeming to be very proud of both of her daughters. At Catco, Kara invites Winn over for Thanksgiving after learning that he has no one to spend it with. She then meets Jimmy at a local diner and invites him as well, but he has already made plans with Lucy. The radio DJ at Catco, Leslie Willis, who uses her platform to criticize Supergirl is confronted by Cat Grant. She tells Leslie to lay off Supergirl and when she objects, she puts Leslie on traffic chopper duty. During a storm the chopper Leslie is in is struck by lighting and spirals out of control. Kara saves the pilot and goes back to save Leslie. While pulling Leslie out of the chopper, Kara is struck by lightning which surges through her and Leslie's bodies. After visiting Leslie at the hospital Cat and Kara head back to Catco, she wakes up. After being released from the hospital she begins to test out her knew found meta human abilities which are based off of electricity. She is able to discharge it as concussive blasts and is able to turn into pure energy, to travel. Back at the Danver's apartment, they are preparing to have dinner when Alex and her mother begin to argue. Alex and Winn leave while Kara talks to her mother. She tells her that it was her decision and not Alex. Kara then goes to meet Cat at Catco and they are met by Willis. Supergirl shows up and sends Leslie running after a brief fight. She also saves Cat from falling to her death in an elevator. Hank shows up and gives Kara advice on how to stop Leslie, after blaming her for giving her powers in the first place. Alex and her mom finally make up with her mother saying she is proud of both her children. Supergirl works with Cat to stop Leslie and they lure her into the streets. Kara and Leslie fight, with Leslie gaining the upper hand. Before she can finish Kara off, Cat distracts her long enough for Kara to douse her with water, incapacitating her. The next day Kara meets with Winn at the office and gives him leftovers and apologizes for what happened. He tells her about his father who is in prison and is a bad man. He then tells her that he is thankful for her and gives her a kiss. Jimmy walks in with Lucy and greets Kara while Winn walks away. Cat calls Kara into her office and talks to her about what she mentioned before about her parents dying. She decides to get to know Kara more and learn about her foster parents. Before Mama Danver leaves, she tells them the truth about their father and how he died while working for the DEO. He was working under Hank Henshaw, who threatened to take Kara away from them when they were kids. The DEO locks Leslie away while Kara, Alex and Hank talk. After he walks away, they decide to look more into his involvement with their father's "death". In flashbacks of their past that lead up to this revelation, Eliza brings Jeremiah inside while Kara takes Alex out for a flight. When they come back, Jeremiah yells at the girls when someone knocks on the door. He tells them to go upstairs and he answers the door. Hank Henshaw shows up wanting to take Kara away, but Jeremiah instead offers himself up to work for the DEO. He tells them he knows everything there is to know about Superman, and he'll turn over that research but they have to leave Kara alone. Henshaw then tells Jeremiah, "Welcome to the DEO."

The Action:

The fights on this show are always done well and this episode was no exception. I'm glad that they did not over do it with the flying with the combat sequences and the effects were on point. Check out some of these notable scenes.

New Characters/Cameos:

Leslie Willis/Livewire- She was quite a character. As a villain I would have to say she has to be my favorite so far. I would definitely like to see more of her in the future. I guess when you are working for someone like Cat Grant and always hearing about Supergirl, it makes some people a little jealous. I think they did a pretty awesome job portraying her powers. Too bad it landed her in a box being kept at the DEO.

Jeremiah and Eliza Danvers- Jeremiah is seen through the flashbacks while Eliza is still alive. They really did everything to protect their children and would make sure to keep Kara's abilities from being seen by the world.

Character Interactions:

Kara and Alex- This time Kara stood up for her sister. It was nice to see Alex having to need her sister's support when their mom came around. The show does the scenes with these two well and they are not over the top girl problems. You can just feel the love and care between the two.

Alex and Eliza- I love that Alex knew exactly what her mom was thinking. The whole blaming the eldest child for what happens to the younger ones is something I can personally relate to. Parents expect us to make sure our siblings go down the right road and make the right choices. Good thing they were able to get over it and make up.

Kara and Eliza- She finally makes her mom realize that Alex did what she thought was right and helped her become Supergirl. You can see how proud of her she is, but it was a little sad seeing her treat her other daughter the opposite.

Kara and Winn- It was really nice of Kara to invite Winn over for Thanksgiving. We can't be the only ones who think that these two should become an item. He even opens up to her about his broken family and his criminal father. He then tells her that he was thankful for her and then plants a kiss on her cheek. She is surprised by what she does, but before she can really react Jimmy walks in and takes her attention away. Poor Winn, he can only take so much third wheeling and being put to the side before something happens.

Kara and Jimmy- They only shared a few moments this episode, but Lucy has come between them each time. I love how she is in the same position as Winn except for the fact that Jimmy actually likes her back,

Kara and Cat- They got to really know more about each other this episode. After Kara tells her about her parents dying when she was young, you can see this change in Cat's face. She then tells Kara that she needs to get to know her a lot better.

Cat and Leslie- Don't bite the hand that feeds you, especially if that person is like Cat Grant. Their relationship was like a rebellious daughter being told what to do by her mother. It's a shame that everything went down the way it did, and you can tell Cat really felt bad about it.

Kara and Hank- They are still not getting along, with Hank taking every opportunity once again to blame Kara for anything that goes wrong. Now that she knows that he knew her father, it is just a waiting game until these two clash in actual battle.

The Danvers- They were overly protective of their kids when they were younger, especially Kara. They told Alex to watch over her younger sister and would yell at her if she didn't do so. Jeremiah even offered himself to the DEO in exchange for Kara.

Easter Eggs:

Toyman- Winn mentions that his father is a bad man and in jail. For those of you who don't know Winn's full name is Winslow Scott Jr. Winslow Scott is the comic book character who becomes Toyman. Hopefully Winn doesn't take up the mantle after his father makes an appearance.

What's to Come/Theories:

The preview for the next episode showed the city falling apart. Kara is off doing her thing, holding up building and flying at superspeed. This was the episode that was supposed to show before this one, but was pulled do to bombing scenes. I can respect the series for making that decision. Maybe Toyman is the one who is up to all these happenings in the city or another character that we will be introduced to. I'm just excited that he was mentioned by Winn, but we all hope that he doesn't turn out that way. Now that it is revealed that Hank may have been the last one to Jeremiah alive, I wonder how long it is before his true nature comes out. Cyborg Superman vs. Supergirl will be a title for one of the episode a lot sooner than we might expect.

Final Thoughts:

Another really good episode for Supergirl. You got action, a pretty well written story and a great villain. I'm glad that they are not just killing them off every week and that Kara is progressing as Supergirl. She actually used her head a lot more in this one and I really liked that. It was nice seeing Mama Danvers pop back into town, but I am sad that Jeremiah is apparently "dead". Supergirl "Liverwire" gets all the thumbs up from me.
