Check out our podcast down below to hear us talk about this episode:
The team goes after H.I.V.E. who continue to attack parts of the city. They find them destroying money meant for the city bank. Diggle gives Oliver information that H.I.V.E. murdered his brother Andy because he was criminal competition. With some help from Ray the team heads to a Wolfman Biologics to locate a chemical they believe is being used by H.I.V.E. The team is attacked by Darhk's men, when Diggle discovers that Andy is still alive and working for H.I.V.E. The team tries to get Diggle to recognize the positive, but he refuses to see Andy as anything more than a traitor and unworthy of saving. Oliver continues his campaign for mayor and is met by Damien at one of his functions. The two talk with Damien asking Oliver to stop his plan to rebuild an area by the bay of the city. Oliver asks what would happen if he refused and Damien says that it would be better if he didn't. Diggle tells Oliver that they are going to find his brother without Laurel and Thea. With a tip from Lance they trace Damien to to a place he labeled slip 52. Damien is there giving new recruits a pill to turn them into Ghosts. He is then shown being able to control their minds and do what he wants them to do. Oliver and Diggle are found by Darhk's men and a fight ensues. They are able to dispatch most of them, but are caught off guard when a small explosive is thrown at them. Oliver is seriously injured and Diggle again reiterates that his brother is too far gone. The team believes Andy is being mind-controlled and Ray is able to locate him and the rest of H.I.V.E. After a showdown between Thea and Andy, the team successfully extracts Andy with help from Ray and his ATOM suit. After an encounter with Darhk, Thea learns that his powers may help cure her bloodlust permanently, after Darhk failed to drain the life force from her. In flashbacks, Conklin tries to sell Oliver out to Reiter. Reiter uses some form of magic to tell which one of them is lying and picks out Conklin. He lets Oliver punish him in front of all the other soldiers and prisoners on the island. Oliver then goes to tells Taiana that her brother died and that Conklin did it.
They had some pretty epic fighting going on in this episode and they all looked amazing. We've even got the Atom keeping up with Team Arrow, showing off his combat skills.
Andy Diggle- Diggle's brother is still alive and is working for Damien. Now Oliver, Laurel and Diggle have another thing in common, with their siblings coming back from the dead. It is a little more tragic in Diggle's case as his brother is a criminal. Looks like we will get to see a little more of him in the future now that they have him locked up.
Team Arrow- The team has really been getting the job done for the most part, but they haven't been able to progress on anything having to do with H.I.V.E until this episode. Ray takes no time in joining the group and proves that he deserves a spot on the team, showing up when they are surrounded. This team is looking pretty solid if you ask me.
Oliver and Diggle- These two are brothers for life. Oliver helped Diggle find hope that they could save his brother from Darhk's influence, when he was about to turn his back on him. This is definitely a departure from where their relationship was at the beginning of the season.
Oliver and Lance- Lance is a lot more tolerable in these last few episodes. He's been feeding as much information on H.I.V.E as he could to Team Arrow, so he's become a pretty valuable asset.
Oliver and Thea- They seem to be getting along just fine and I hope that it stays that way. She's been helping Oliver a lot with his campaign and for the most part has been able to keep her bloodlust at bay.
Oliver and Damien- Damien has run into Green Arrow a couple of times, but this is the first time he's met Oliver Queen. You can already feel the tension between the two and at the end of the episode it looks like Oliver declared war against him.
Diggle and Andy- It's one thing to have your brother come back from the dead. It's another to have to face him and have him own up to all the bad things he had done. Now Andy may still be under Darhk's influence, but he did tell Diggle that everything on file about him was true.
Diggle and Lyla- It's been a bit of time since we've seen her, but it's always nice when she shows up. She is always the one who gets through to her husband when no one else can. I also miss seeing baby Sara.
Ray and Felicity- These two may not be an item anymore, but they are a joy to watch on screen together. Plus, he was able to help out more than she did this episode.
Thea and Malcolm- Yes, all he is trying to do is help his daughter, but come on man there's got to be another way. He essentially handed her over a list of a couple of menaces to society that she could pick out and kill to relieve her bloodlust.
Thea and Alex- It's been a while since Thea had a love life and I'm not too sure how I feel about this guy. Yeah they have this connection, but her last boyfriend turned out to be an assassin for Rahs. We all know that her and Roy were built for each other, but were victims of circumstance.
Damien and Lance- I love how Lance just takes crap from Damien, but in reality he is just playing him. Hopefully all of that doesn't cost him his life, especially now that he is likable again.
Damien and Thea- When Damien tried to use his magic on Thea it backfired and it looked like it really hurt. Thea mentions to Malcolm that it took away some of her bloodlust and has a plan to get rid of it totally. I hope that she doesn't go in way over her head doing this. Oliver won't be too happy with her keeping this from him. Please don't add her to the death list, please.
Marv Wolfman- This is definitely a nod to the long time comic book writer. I love seeing these types of Easter eggs on this show.
New 52- Damien had a note on the table that had a meeting place called Slip 52. Also we have the good old channel 52 news covering Oliver's run for Mayor.
What's to Come/Theories:
We have a bit of a break until the next episode which is going to be the set up for Legends of tomorrow. We have the introduction of Vandal Savage forcing all our heroes to band together along with some new faces. Damien Darhk will have a big part to play and we finally get a mini version of the Justice League on the small screen. These shows are definitely getting more exciting, especially with the crossovers. Darhk times are ahead and it's going to take everyone to stop what's coming.
I really enjoyed this episode and while I love seeing the team kicking butt, I think I was more excited seeing Ray get into the action. He came a long way from when he was first introduced and I can not wait to see more of him. Damien dark is one of my favorite villains shown so far and we've only seen a little of what he could do. The story was good and it opened a whole new set of questions. I can not wait to see the crossover event in a couple of weeks! What did you guys think about the episode? Leave it in the comments below, we'd love to read them!
