Any announcement of a new Netflix series fills me with an excited, bubbly feeling in my belly. This is for numerous reasons. Firstly, the standard is incredibly high - hits such as Daredevil and Narcos are quality. Secondly, and probably more importantly, it means I can binge to my life's content. No waiting around, no adverts - just pure and uninterrupted TV bliss.

Imagine my excitement when I discovered the latest originally scripted Netflix series will feature Jason Momoa, or as you may know him - Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones. Momoa will also star as Aquaman in the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice movie. In other words, the guy's a big deal.

The final Frontier?

Frontier will be a six-episode Western drama centred around the North American fur industry in the 18th century. Momoa will be portraying Declan Harp. The description of his character is as follows:

"An ambitious, confident, charismatic and untamed man with a reputation for being a ruthless trader, driven by lust and revenge."

Essentially, it sounds like Declan will share some of the personality traits of Khal Drogo (I'm thinking specifically ruthlessness mixed with charisma), which by all accounts is great news. Considering Momoa stole most scenes in his stint on Game of Thrones, this is a great chance for him to flex his muscles in a leading role.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the narrative of the story is expressed through different characters and perspectives. The crux of the story will examine the troublesome relationship between Native tribes and Europeans, which notoriously led to gruesome battles. Often, disputes were settled by hatchet fights. HATCHET FIGHTS. So expect it to be quite graphic and bloody.

Four other cast members have been confirmed, and it's a promising mix of exciting talent. They are:

1. Landon Liboiron

Recently featured in: Hemlock Grove, Degrassi: The Next Generation

2. Alun Armstrong

Recently featured in: Downton Abbey, Penny Dreadful

3. Allan Hawco

Recently featured in: Republic of Doyle, The Book of Negroes

4. Zoe Boyle

Recently featured in: Downton Abbey, Sons of Anarchy

Frontier will be released in all its Netflix glory in 2016.
