First lets understand something about Feminism by asking ourselves What is Feminism? And how did it come about?
Feminism, is the belief that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities.
In my belief, it was one of the most important ideologies to garner attention in the 60's-80's , this was indeed a time where women were treated like objects or slaves, they would only transcend or even be lifted depending on their status or beauty, I mean women where expected to be the ones of empathy and bear the next generation, putting their careers on the line and even so far as getting paid half for what they worked hard for. This is why feminism in the west was radically important, it was put in place to challenge stereotypes & misconceptions.
Is Feminism still relevant today?
Yes, definitely, feminism is an essential ingredient in society it is required to inspire change similar to the civil rights movement of '54, it challenged society on a global scale on what it means to be a human being.
Now don't take this as I am completely supporting feminism, I don't, I would never, let me say again, never support western feminism. Today, western feminism is a complete joke in it self, instead of fighting for women in the middle east much like Malala Yousafzai, they complain about non-existent pay gaps (women get paid 1.1% more than men, and more likely to be employed just because of their gender due to social critiques) and male privilege. Western Feminism does not focus on important issues like the pain women undergo in the middle east and Africa, where they are genitally mutilated the figure comes to about 27.2 million in Egypt, with a high 98% of the cases mainly being from war torn Somalia. They have a festering rape culture due to practices where women are treated as objects take for example Afghanistan or Pakistan, where woman are stripped naked in public and beaten for crimes like revealing skin or even trying to attempt to have an education. Rape is often used in civil wars to threaten the enemy and even offered as comfort for the soldiers (as reports reveal cases where ISIS militants continually rape afghan women) and also in parts of Sierra Leone or Somalia where many are gang raped.
Reports even say the horrific tragedies that occur to middle eastern women, especially in war torn countries like syria, where even young girls are tagged and sold in open markets as slaves. Even in west and central Africa practices such as breast ironing are done to keep girls as virgins. Its not just Africa or the middle east that is to be put on blame, but also countries like Thailand, where sex is the economy, out of this type of economy come many reports of old men buying little girls as slaves, gang rape of prostitutes not by strangers but they're very own family to take away their self-esteem and self-worth.
Whats wrong with Western Feminism?
As I mentioned in my word above of horrors women in the other parts of the world face everyday, this wouldn't be the face or even the focus of western feminism, instead it would focus on ideas such as the wage gap (again not existent refer to above two) , Male Privilege, gaming culture, rape culture in the west (really?) .
Today we are bombarded by idiotic movements like Amber rose's 'Slutwalk' essentially a 15 year old stripper who thinks her life choices is a role model for young girls today (when you have no talent guess thats what you got to do). Rose Mcgowan (Got triggered because the film required her to be good looking) & J-Law's cry about Hollywood (J-Law earned $50 Million last year and she acted in one big budget film). Even the idiotic #freethenipple campaign which for God knows why trended on twitter and is now an organisation. We don't need to look far on how irrational and stupid western feminism has taken us, it has made us more politically correct and completely sensitive to jokes. Young boys are now told by their teachers on how much male privelege they have as a boy, and young girls are taught that all boys are misogynistic rapists that a simple "hello" can trigger them sexually.
Lets debunk some myths that are paraded as 'facts'
1. Women earn 77 cents for every dollar a man earns—for doing the same work.
"The 23 cent gender pay gap is simply the difference between the average earnings of all men and women working full-time. It does not account for differences in occupations, positions, education, job tenure or hours worked per week. When such relevant factors are considered, the wage gap narrows to the point of vanishing."- Christina Hoff Summers (Time Magazine, Columnist)
2. From 100,000 and 300,000 girls are pressed into sexual slavery each year in the United States.
The source itself (2001 report on child sexual exploitation by University of Pennsylvania sociologists Richard Estes and Neil Alan Weiner) disputed this claim that is paraded around by so called 'activists', the 100,000 and 300,000 children were at risk of exploitation, not real victims. Lets not forget we are automatically made to think of course most of these children could be girls, but no they are boys. We can look at data from census by Spangenberg in “Prostituted Youth in New York City: An Overview.” In America itself 52% of Prostitutes were male to 42% of female a difference of 10%, this is alarming as men rarely have an halfway homes or even safe places to shelter in when most government and charity funding are devoted to women's shelters.
3. Women are more likely to suicide then men
Very commonly used by feminists to defend themselves, is the fabricated suicide rates they preach at rallies and news outlets, vastly misinformed by western media, this has let to generous donations to suicide prevention hotlines that cater for women only, whereas Men are more likely to die 3 times more than women a ratio of 3:1, only 41-58% of Males are likely to call a prevention line, because of social stigma of them being seen as the bread winner and the question of their masculinity.
4. Men are more likely to get a job than women because of male privilege
This complete joke of a statement exemplifies the ignorance of most western feminists, only 17.6% of men even graduate high school where as 22.4% women graduate. Only 0.9% of men have a GED whereas 4.3% of women have one (City of New York, Court of Innovation).
Just to bring to light few other issues we can look at Drug stats, 33.3% of boy suffer from cocaine addiction to 20.2% for girls, 36.9% of boys suffer from Alcohol addiction to 16.0% for girls, 6.3% boys suffer form Meth addiction to 0.% of girls. Yes it is completely insane of how real these stats are and how urgent it is that men need shelters and place to fall back, just simply because feminists talk about 'male privilege' does not mean it is true.
I mean what kind world am I privileged to live in where i'm more likely to kill myself, be addicted to drugs, unemployed and a sex worker. Does it look like Male privilege to you. So I ask Rose McGowan, Anita Sarkeesian, Zoe Quinn and Brianna Wu what possibly can you say about male privilege.
I do not even want to mention Lena Dunham in this article, because I see her as a pathetic example of a feminist who completely destroys a brilliant ideology to her own benefit, molesting her little sister and accusing men of false rape, getting away with all of these with a slap on the wrist.
Wait did I just trigger someone because slapping a women's hand is misogynistic?
