In February of next year, Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 receives its release date for the, XBOX One, PS4 and PC - a mere two weeks away from the release of Street Fighter V. Two massive fighting game franchises in the space of one month, not to mention that Deus Ex: Mankind Divided comes out in the same month. Too many games, not enough funds.
But with the climactic conclusion to the [Naruto: Shippuden](tag:3637021) narrative coming to a close in Ninja Storm 4, could this game be up to the challenge against the acclaimed Street Fighter series? After all, Street Fighter IV is seen as one of the greatest fighting games of all time! Can Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 overcome these odds?
Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 vs Street Fighter 5
Where will your loyalties lie in February, 2016? Do you love Naruto for its fighting mechanics, or that it can take you on an adventure through the series' greatest moments? Naruto is a very different fighting game to Street Fighter after all. The latter is acclaimed for its deep combat mechanics and insane variety when it comes to character's fighting styles. With Naruto, you certainly have these elements too, but you get the added bonus of an excellent narrative!
Obviously, if we consider sales it's easy to see that the continuation of the Street Fighter series is going to excel in this department, but that doesn't indicate a level of quality. Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 is considered by many to be one of the finest fighting games you can get your hands on. If the 4th instalment was to improve upon this legacy, imagine the kind of fighter we could have in February!
Obviously, if you're a dedicated fighting game fan and you have the cash floating around, picking up both of these games is a beautiful option. But if you were presented with a choice between these two, could you pick only one? What is it about the franchise that you'd pick that keeps you coming back for more?
Which Fighting Game Has Your Vote?
Personally, I think if Developer CyberConnect2 can maintain the level of quality that 3 delivered, and somehow surpass it, Street Fighter V is going to have serious competition for top spot in February of next year. Who knows? Maybe Street Fighter 5 will be terrible and completely off set the balance of the series! Who knows? But we'd love to hear which series has your vote and why that particular fighting game has you so excited!
